Unnamed Road, 225200, Orșova
Been here?
4x4 access only
Getting here needs an off-road vehicle. Check your ground clearance before setting off.
A free wild spot on Alion peak with an exceptional view over the Danube. Reaching it requires a genuine 4x4 or small 4x4 van, with a narrow, muddy, sloping and heavily rutted track. The route is limited to 2.30m and vehicles may be scratched by thorn bushes and branches.

We came to Romania for off-roading, but the route was annoying. Definitely not for “just taking a quick look.” It is narrow (thorn bushes), height-restricted (2.30 m), muddy, and partly sloped. Maximum Defender class. At the site the grass is burned and there are thorn bushes. Next door there is a clear message: private property! Campers are apparently not welcome. The view is good, including from two spots shortly before the radio towers.Translating
Warning: only for genuine off-roaders! One comment says “possible with a motorhome”—definitely not! At most, a small 4x4 van. We went up with a Pajero V80 and an off-road caravan. The track is currently badly washed out; plenty of ground clearance is needed. The agricultural track was completely muddy. My wife was at her wits’ end, but as a driver I managed it well. Only for genuine off-roaders! Great view. There is another beautiful spot before the destination.Translating
There are currently very deep tractor ruts. No chance with an XC90. A taller off-road vehicle with locking differentials could make it through. The second location on the map is significantly more accessible.Translating
I expected better. October 15, 2024: difficult to level the vehicle unless you have leveling blocks. The terrain is very thorny, as is the access road. Impossible with a vehicle over 2.40/2.50 m: a large branch blocks the road overhead. Scratches to the bodywork are unavoidable.Translating
A very nice place for one night. As mentioned in the other comment, you should not navigate here using Google.Translating
Wow, a truly wonderfully beautiful campsite with amazing views in the middle of nature. The approach is somewhat tricky and you need to be able to read a map, as Google cannot really help here. But if you are not a complete amateur and know and handle your motorhome reasonably well, you will have no problems at all. Many thanks for sharing!Translating
