Sitio das Caneiras, 8650, Barão de São Miguel
Been here?
This private pitch is a quiet, nature-based place with a relaxed atmosphere and a large, shaded spot. Facilities include an outdoor kitchen, grill, oven, stove, solar power and a generator. A warm shower costs 2€, and the dry toilet is clean. Parking for a 10-meter motorhome is available, while the village is a 10-minute walk away. Finding the place is difficult, but the dirt access road is practicable with a 7.5m vehicle and trailer.

A complete change of scenery. A peaceful place, far from overly touristy areas where motorhomes are banned everywhere. No risk of theft or home invasion. Difficult to find, though. The precise GPS point is: 37°06'39.1''N 8°47'04.0''W For a timeless journey.
If you love nature, this is the place. The peace and return to a bygone era do you good. Simple and kind people. Be careful: go all the way to Boa de San Miguel and set the GPS from there; you will avoid scraping your motorhome on a long dirt road, although it is passable with my 7.5 m vehicle and trailer. The village café-grocery-tavern is very good.
What a lovely community. Even when the owner is not there.
We were here for the second time and can highly recommend it! You have complete peace and quiet, the composting toilet is cleaner than any regular one, and the shower is warm. You can easily walk to the next village, and anyone who likes falafel should definitely stop by Algarvegan, 500 m away. Shower €2 and night €9.50, which is very fair for the location!
Arriving at night makes the place seem rather questionable, but it is actually very pleasant. The owner is relaxed, the kitchen is good, and the comfortable lounge is filled with musical instruments. It is extremely remote and quiet—definitely one of the best places we found.
Peace and quiet in the middle of the countryside. Everything is as described. Thank you very much!!!
Very nice, simple and accommodating. We arrived late twice in a row. Some workers had a party, so the music was a little loud, but not too close. Our pitch was very good, large, with vegetation and shade. We did not use the shower, but the dry toilets are very clean. Everything is simple—it is not a business—open, and the owner deserves this little bit of money!
Very peaceful place in the middle of nowhere! Cool, even somewhat rustic atmosphere :-) Hot shower, apparently the owner’s own, cluttered but clean. Clean dry toilet, washing-up facilities available, very cool and friendly welcome. You pay what you want; I gave €10 for one van and one person without electricity, and the owner wanted to give me change for €5.
We had been travelling for nearly two years, and this was our favourite place ever. We stayed a long time and made genuine lifelong friends. Lemmy and Bella, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for being yourselves; we love and appreciate everything you did for us. We will certainly return. Nati, Reut, Omri and Noah.
the most beautiful and peaceful place in nature, had all we needed! thank you so much for everything! we will come back!!
Very cozy and idyllic place. Felt welcome and right at home, the community kitchen is open for everyone to cook and relax, yet, I never felt forced to chat. Unfortunately the shower was at best lukewarm and not too clean. 15€ still is a very fair price for one night and the farm is a project worth supporting :)
Very relaxed owner who also speaks German. I arrived quite late, at 9 p.m., and immediately found a place. Shower and toilet were great. Gladly again!
We stayed one night, parking in a dip while it rained heavily. In the morning we tried to leave but became stuck in the mud. Everyone on site kindly helped, and the host carefully towed us out with his 4x4. Such a lovely, generous group of people—I highly recommend the place. Many thanks, Andrew and Karen.
For us, the most beautiful place in the area to park quietly and sleep peacefully! And there are nice people too. A short section of “Portuguese track,” but it is easily manageable.
What a lovely, relaxed place, with a truly wonderful owner. Our side mirror broke on the way there, and he kindly helped us arrange a repair. We will return.
Excellent welcome, unusual place indeed.
An incredible place with a top-notch welcome. Everything you need for a peaceful night: hot shower, water point, dry toilets, an unusual but very welcoming place with simply wonderful people welcoming you. Long live the Pirates. Use the GPS points to get there. I recommend it to those who like unusual places.
A very calm, comfortable place that covers nearly all basic needs. The people are kind and helpful, and the site is easy to reach via a road manageable for almost any vehicle. I would definitely recommend it.
Quiet place! Dry toilet, but clean. The shower is quite “rustic,” but at least it is there and it is hot! The person on the phone is very kind. On site, we were welcomed by men who live there, I think, and they immediately welcomed us and showed us the facilities. Basically, it is the bare minimum, but it is more than sufficient, especially for €9.50 plus €1 or €2 for the shower.
Warm and welcoming reception. Alain, our French host, is very friendly. Authentic place, easy access, clean toilet and shower—a perfect place to rest and have a good time away from the cities. And inexpensive. Thank you; I highly recommend it.
Hi, just for clarification: there are two access roads; vehicles up to 4 metres high have no problem. I am also happy to show you the correct route personally in daylight. The bumpy road from the village is not my responsibility; there are worse ones—it is simply the countryside. Greetings, Lemmy & co.
A very warm welcome for a two-night stay. A spot that feels like home, with a heart of gold. A peaceful place that reminds us what really matters. No navigation issues with a van
The pitch is in the middle of nature. The access road has a few potholes and stones over the last 500 m. Branches hanging over the road touched the roof of my semi-integrated motorhome, which is 6.99 m long and 3 m high. In the morning, I had coffee with Lemmy. Warm atmosphere. Felt like home.
