Sloping valley motorhome area, unmanned site

Pretty and peaceful area, but there is no staff on site to provide information. We arrived at 6:30 p.m. and found at the parking meter that the ticket was valid only until 11 a.m. the next day. To stay beyond that time, an additional €12 had to be paid. Be sure to check the prices carefully!

An incredible view in a mystical place in southern France. Waking up above the clouds is an unforgettable experience. The service is impeccable and the welcome very warm. A place I recommend without hesitation!

The area is still not open. Despite this, there is a parking area below for motorhomes, and by contacting the town hall it is possible to spend the night there. We paid €5. The bar at the top of the village is great; they were the ones who helped us. Thanks to the town hall and the bar!!! Very beautiful village and a mystery to discover!

On 14 June 2026 we stayed overnight in the motorhome day car park. This is allowed by purchasing another day ticket after 7 p.m.; we paid €3. We checked with the mayor's office because the app says it is closed. The new motorhome area is shut, but there is plenty of space in the day car park. The access road is good, if slightly narrow, and the location is absolutely worth it—the most amazing place we have ever stayed.

We spent last night here without any problems. At the tourist information office, we were told that we could stay on the lowest of the three levels with a day ticket. The upper levels are not fully developed yet (water is missing). The location is breathtaking.

Unfortunately, still closed. I don’t understand why this beautiful area is closed—too bad for the shopkeepers and restaurateurs; we carried on. I’m giving it one star, otherwise it is impossible to publish. The parking meters were not working.

Area closed, but… After seeing in the reviews that the motorhome area was closed, I called the town hall, and a charming person told me that I could park in the car park just below and pay at the parking meter. So we settled in after paying for the parking, and we will see what happens tomorrow...

Warning, the area is still closed overnight. You can come during the day to a paid car park: €3 for 5 hours or €5 for 11 hours, but the car park closes at 7 p.m. Do not come up late in the day.

The area is closed; the motorhome parking is daytime-only, but the parking meter does not work. The rates are unclear and EasyPark charges €13 for the whole day.

Once I had climbed the mountain and arrived in the dark, the area was inaccessible because of the barrier, so I stayed in the car park overnight. In the morning, a municipal employee (on a Saturday morning) came to tell me that staying in the car park was forbidden (?!) and that I had to go to the area. I told him there was a barrier, and he replied, “Yes, it is only open during the day.” Go figure...

A shame we could not stay in the area overnight because it was closed. So we stayed in the daytime car park. The village is magnificent and there are excellent hikes nearby.

Magnificent parking area. The mayor is fantastic! Very peaceful day and night, with excellent sightseeing and hiking around the village. Three very good restaurants provide meals in this beautiful village. I recommend it.

Very good for visiting Rennes-le-Château.

Magnificent visit, steeped in the history of the Cathars and their abbot. Very pretty village. Day-and-night motorhome area very close by. Very good.
