Been here?
Campingplatz Werratal is a small, well-maintained campsite in a natural setting beside the Werra, with spacious pitches and a quiet atmosphere. It has a beer garden, small shop, bread-roll delivery, gas bottle sales, camper cleaning and canoe rental. The sanitary facilities are sufficiently clean but somewhat used, with unstable water temperature. A camper with two adults and a child paid €40 including electricity; electricity costs €4 and is limited to 1.4 kW.

Too expensive: €40 for a camper with two adults, one child, and electricity. Power costs another €4 but is capped at 1.4 kW, which rules out using a kettle or other appliance. The facilities are worn but reasonably clean and could use improvement. Unsteady water temperature makes washing dishes and showering unpleasant. It might be worthwhile with an ACSI discount, though I have not checked.
On our way to Croatia, we stopped here for one night. A small campsite, where we received a very friendly welcome. Definitely recommended, even for longer stays. Best wishes, the Matos family.
A very beautiful small, well-maintained campsite! The operators are very nice and helpful. Everything you need is available!!! The town is worth seeing and easily reachable on foot! We won't be staying here for the last time ;))
Very nice family-run place directly on the Werra. Very friendly female operator. Everything is available for spending wonderful days. We would love to come back.
Super beautiful site. The operators are very nice and helpful. Very quiet at night. I can only recommend the campsite. Everything is very uncomplicated.
The sanitary facilities are being renovated gradually, and a lot has already been done. It is a shame that people do not show consideration and want to arrive after 10 p.m., when most sites—including this one—have quiet hours, and then give the beautiful site a one-star rating for it, ruining the average.
Actually a beautiful site with large pitches. Clean sanitary facilities. Nice operator. A small snack bar with beer garden is very pleasant and invites you to linger. Motorhome, dog and one person: €24. I already find that quite expensive. Electricity €3. But I will come again.
Very nice site. The people who arrive after 10 p.m. and complain that they can no longer enter the site are probably Corona-era newbies, who—as so often—don't know what is appropriate. I would be happy to come again.
We stayed one night while driving, perfectly okay for that. It was possible to reserve online. Clean but slightly worn sanitary facilities; a plus is that everything is included in the price. From a spot at the edge, road and train sounds could be heard. There wasn't much traffic, but it is not exactly a peaceful place.
In my opinion, even one star is too much, but anyway. When you make a reservation and receive no information that you can only arrive until 10 p.m., then arrive at 10:10 p.m. and are rudely sent away, I am really lost for words.
Upon arriving after 10 p.m., we were insulted by the “friendly” long-term campers… Clearly not recommended. We simply moved to the next motorhome site. Unfortunately, zero stars is not an option here…
Nice park-like site. Only a short walk into town. The cycle path along the Werra is very beautiful. You can occasionally hear the railway line opposite. Sanitary facilities are cramped and outdated but clean. Unfortunately, the price-performance ratio does not quite match these facilities.
The site is very beautiful, right by the river and close to the city. Lovely hiking trails. The operators are very nice. The sanitary facilities are worth only 1–2 stars. Unfortunately, they are somewhat small and outdated. Important: during quiet hours, the entrance is closed, so you may have to spend the night outside after all. But overall, the site is highly recommended.
A site that has seen better days. Anyone who enjoys canoeing is in the right place here; the small town, the Werra and the surrounding area are very beautiful. A better solution for the rubbish area would improve the site. Showers without thermostats are not sustainable; water and energy are wasted. For us, the price was not appropriate.
An ideal site for nature lovers and water sports enthusiasts. Grass with sunny and shaded pitches for WoMos, vans, campers and tents of all sizes. Dogs are allowed. The electricity supply is protected by a 6A fuse. One star deducted for the archaic opening hours (be sure to check the website; it will save you hours of waiting). We would love to come back.
Great site with a fire pit in the countryside… kiosk and beer garden available. Very friendly staff. Canoeing on the Werra is possible. Several supermarkets in Witzenhausen are within walking distance, as are restaurants. Bathrooms are small but clean and currently being renovated. We would love to come back.
