Cliff Gate Road, DL8 3LY
Been here?
This is a quiet, hard-standing spot on Buttertub Pass with beautiful views across the Dales. It is busy during the day but has little to no traffic after 1800, making overnight stays peaceful. There are no services, and the area can be windy and exposed. Ground-nesting birds and sheep are present, so dogs must be kept on leads.

Excellent place to spend the night. Very peaceful, with an incredible landscape.Translating
Stayed one night right next to cattle grid. There was some rubbish and a lot of dog poo next to the gate which I have picked up, otherwise all good. Had a good sleep. Translating
Fantastic place to stop, quiet, among the Dales. Beautiful, amazingly good internet, one other van with us, and it felt safe. Lovely.Translating
Amazing spot with excellent internet connection on O2.Translating
Very quiet spot beside a road. Hard standing which is pretty flat. Busy during the day but little to no cars after 1800 hrs. Nice views. Wind was strong but has settled nicely. No services. 2 bars of 4G with EE, good enough to stream. Would come back again. 2 other vans stayed the night also. Translating
Great spot at the top of Buttertub Pass. No cars after 6 pm until about 8 am.Translating
The view is superb, but beware of the wind; we were shaken around for part of the night.Translating
amazing views over the landscape, awesome scenery. Quite exposed so wind felt intense but fun! Flat enough, no phone signal. Very quiet, next to a road but you could barely hear the cars come past (and they really didn’t come past often, such a remote road), so not an issue! Bit of a climb to get there but not too bad.Translating
