Lakeside pitches, difficult wet access

Very beautiful, spacious place with many camping spots. However, I absolutely would not recommend driving down there with a large van. The only way down is steep, rocky, sandy and full of potholes. I had to be pulled out because I could not get back up. Suitable only for vehicles up to VW Bus size or 4x4s.

The location itself is stunning, but reaching and leaving it in a front-wheel-drive VW T4 was difficult; it was one of the few times I wished for a Syncro 4x4. Avoid it in wet weather or when rain is expected. There are several access roads, and some are better than others.

Lovely and quiet place. The road down had a couple of difficult sections for my Octavia, and I might not have made it in muddy conditions.

Very beautiful and quiet place with numerous pitches. Some have direct access to the lake. Access is via the parking lot on the main road, where there is also a toilet and waste disposal.

Excellent lakeside location with a sand-and-gravel surface that may be difficult when wet. We arrived while it was dry, so access was easy. It is extremely quiet and spacious, even with another vehicle present. Do not follow Google Maps’ direct route; use the alternative entrance roughly 500 metres west, which is much easier to drive.

A wonderful and very peaceful place. The road noise is almost nonexistent here. Do not follow Google Maps’ recommendation; enter via the border or the parking area farther west. You can also access it in snow if your van is 4x4 or has good off-road equipment with all-terrain tires.

We also took the road shortly before the border. It is easy to drive. Down by the lake there are many great, secluded places. A wonderful spot. Please take your rubbish with you. Unfortunately, there is already plenty of it lying around in places.

Great view and you can park right by the lake. But beware! The approach is tough, and in wet conditions—which are quite common up here—it is impossible to get out with a motorhome without help and 4x4.

A truly perfect place, although it is near the main road, which cannot be heard. Be careful when setting your navigator: it will take you to an access road where 4x4 is essential. There are two official entrances, one toward Finland and one toward Norway, before the difficult access mentioned above.

We attempted to drive down, but the mud was too deep, so we abandoned the attempt. Instead, we found a gravel pull-in farther south along the road. The E8 can still be heard, though traffic is fairly light.
