Quiet monument parking, darkness

An impressive monument to the victims of the 1968 earthquake. It is a parking area for the memorial; camping behavior is inappropriate and could be perceived as disruptive by people who experienced the disaster directly or indirectly. We stayed here for one night, undisturbed, alone and in complete peace.✦Translating

It was very quiet, with absolutely nothing going on. We slept well. In the morning, three buses arrived with schoolchildren. The concrete shroud is truly very impressive, as is the new town of Nuova Gibellina. Absolutely worth a visit.✦Translating

A quiet location in beautiful surroundings with an impressive monument nearby. Sadly, I was alone in total darkness when two men exited a car and approached my camper. They appeared annoyed and left fairly soon after discovering that I did not speak Italian. It was unsettling, so I moved elsewhere for safety.✦Translating

A horrific drama took place here. Tourists have no business here. This perhaps also explains the agitated attitude of the local population. This is a monument for the bereaved.✦Translating

Perfect place to visit Il Grande Cretto and also watch the sunset. The surroundings are wonderfully beautiful! There are no bins, but there are two PokéStops and a gym for those who play Pokémon. The parking area is mostly flat. Visitors during the day and very quiet at night. Easily accessible via SS119 and SP5.✦Translating

We had a restful night with only two other campers around. The surrounding countryside is lovely. The art monument is not to my taste, but it is certainly unique.✦Translating

We stayed here for three nights at the beginning of December. Only the shepherd with his sheep passes by twice a day with his flock. A great place if you can stay off-grid.✦Translating

A very mystical place. A little spooky alone, almost under a full moon ;-) Thinking about what happened in 1968. No nighttime visitors! The wind turbines are not disturbing. Very peaceful. Incredible at sunrise.✦Translating

Frankly, a really beautiful place; however, people were searching the abandoned houses with flashlights, and the noise from the wind turbines right next door was really unbearable.✦Translating

Since you can take a lovely circular motorbike ride through the surrounding villages, which young people especially enjoy at weekends with their roaring bikes, some noise should be expected. Otherwise quiet, safe and above all worth a visit. The access road is also suitable for XXL vehicles.✦Translating

I would advise against this place. We arrived after dark at about 7 PM, and an hour later a car entered, drove close to us, and left. This felt suspicious, especially in such a remote area with poor access roads. Since other campers had experienced something similar a few months earlier, we chose to leave for safety.✦Translating
