Closed riverside parking

Apparently the prices are dynamic. During the fair weekend we also paid €35; in 2025 it was still €18. The site is ideally located, close to the old town and directly on the Rhine. Apart from parking and a few bins, there is nothing else here. The site is also poorly maintained. Because of the location I still give it 3 stars; otherwise, not recommended.✦Translating

Shameless to charge money for a place like this. It is an excessively expensive car park, not a motorhome site. The place is full of rubbish, it smells of urine everywhere, and the Rhine riverside road is very noisy day and night, regardless of all the people partying there. Beware of being ripped off by the operator. We stayed here in January 2026, close to the old town, with a beautiful Rhine panorama. When we entered, the barrier was up and there was a note saying “machine out of order.” When leaving, despite stopping, we could not pay because the barrier was open. Perfect motorhome site for attending concerts at the Merkur Arena or exploring the beautiful old town, a 15-minute walk away. We paid €54 for three nights with our motorhome. For this beautiful setting directly on the Rhine, five stars are absolutely deserved.✦Translating

For years I have often returned to this car park in Düsseldorf. The prices are now excessive, and during my last three overnight stays, sleeping between about 1 and 3 a.m. was impossible even with ear protection. A wonderful place with the most beautiful view and sunrise/sunset. We paid €40 for two nights. Okay, there are no facilities, but everything is within walking distance; better and cheaper than a hotel. It is nice that you can pay by scanning the QR code, so you do not have to go to the cashier. I think the price is calculated based on the type or size of the motorhome. Thank you, Düsseldorf, for nothing. €35.00 for what is offered — nothing — is a textbook rip-off. We actually wanted to stay for two or three days, shop and spend money. Instead, the next day we went to Cologne for strolling and shopping. Düsseldorf, the city with the “still” largest caravan trade fair. With this welcome, we will skip that in the future too.

Perfect for staying in Düsseldorf’s old town. Parking fees completely reasonable. Charges are based on duration and registered via number-plate recognition. Payment at the machine and via QR code is very convenient. We paid €18 for one night. Absolutely fine.

At the entrance we found a notice about a €35 daily flat rate. That would be a 100% price increase compared with our overnight stay last year. However, when leaving we paid only €18. Overall, the site is not very customer-friendly, as a large part is blocked for motorhomes and you can only park farther away from the old town and television tower.

Half of the pitches are currently closed from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. The available pitches are so narrow that you have to be careful not to scratch your neighbor’s vehicle when opening the habitation door. It was not suitable for an overnight stay for us, so after visiting the city we left.

We agree with the nice previous reviewer. We have been coming here for many years and have always enjoyed it, but unfortunately not for €35 anymore. It has nothing to do with welcoming tourists; it is simply an unfair rip-off.

Raising the site fee from €18 to €35 within a year for a mere car park without services, where in the worst case Rhine tourists relieve themselves behind the motorhomes (experienced personally), and where loud parties by young people take place in the summer months, is outrageous. Despite the inconveniences, I liked coming here; now I no longer do!

Prices have gone up again. Motorhomes over 2.3 m: €35 for 24 hours. But the location determines the price. There are also large parking spaces directly at the entrance that are not restricted to cars. Overall, significantly more than the 20 mentioned in the description.

Close to the old town and directly on the Rhine, ideal for overnight stays. It was busy, but the “party guests” on the wall did not stay long after sunset. The night was quiet. The modern parking machine with number-plate recognition is good; we paid €16 from the afternoon until noon. It is shameful that the state capital has no disposal station, except at the exhibition grounds.

Always good for going into Düsseldorf. Direct view of the Rhine is also nice. Rather expensive for a simple car park, hence only three stars.

Great here, right by the water. Not much going on apart from the road, but still okay. There is a kiosk just around the corner with coffee and snacks. I was here at the end of January. I would gladly return.

The operator seems to have changed at the turn of the year. The parking machines now work reliably, with number-plate scanning and digital payment (no cash, no printed receipt, digital only). €25 per 24 hours for a “bare” parking space is quite a lot. The location and scenery are probably what make it worthwhile.

Close to the center with a beautiful view of the Rhine. But there is a lot of traffic; the car park seems to be used as a bypass, with many vehicles driving at high speed close to the parked motorhomes. Not really great for overnight stays.

It was okay. The site is centrally located and directly on the Rhine. I find €16 rather steep, but the location and surroundings are truly fantastic!

It doesn’t get more central, with a great view of the Rhine. There were very few people over Christmas and it was very quiet. Hardly any partygoers. There are zero services, which you have to be able to manage. We are always self-sufficient. It was our first winter camping trip. -5°C was adventurous but perfectly manageable. The proximity to the old town and the scenery are truly magnificent. In this case, the price is secondary.

Unfortunately, the motorhome price has been increased since 19.12.2025 from €18.00 to €25.00 per night. Regardless of how large or small the motorhome is. Otherwise, the basic site is recommended because it is very close to the city and offers a beautiful view of Düsseldorf.

Very convenient for the old town and Christmas market. Downside is that is can be noisy with passing road traffic, vehicles moving through the car park and river traffic. There are more parking spaces at the end near the coach park. As others have said don’t rely on the location using Google maps as the turning is before the end point. Still for €18 for the night it’s good value.

To be avoided like the plague... drug addicts and alcoholics with music at full volume and animal-like screams until late at night... we will never return.

Wonderful to stand so close to the center! Close to the Rhine. Not super quiet, but that is logical. No facilities. There were many campers even in November. This is a lovely way to visit a city. Thank you, Düsseldorf!
