Le Vieux Fort

Fantastic view over the sea to Jersey. Expanses of sandy beach and high tide lapping at the base of the camping site. Peaceful in early may. Could be noisy in high season I think. However, no easy access to the beach and the electricity point kept tripping out. A little expensive at €32/ night.

The view from the pitches directly on the beach deserves 5 stars. The price of €33 for two people and one motorhome, including electricity, plus an extra shower token, is too expensive in October—2 stars. The sanitary facilities are among the worst I have ever experienced. Toilets without seats. Unbelievable. 1 star.

We loved Portbail. For anyone who loves the sea, this campsite is ideal. We will return.

Unfortunately, reception is closed from 12 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. And there is nowhere to wait. In high season, what an idea!

One night in a van. Mixed impression. 5/5 for the managers’ kindness. 5/5 for the location (view, size, cleanliness, tranquillity). On the other hand, the sanitary facilities are from another era but functional, and the biggest downside is the prices: even the campsite at Mont Saint-Michel is cheaper for identical facilities! But perhaps the owner rents out the sea! Finally, there are a great many dogs…

Very friendly welcome, pitch of about 90 m² directly by the sea, where we could watch the tides. Clean sanitary facilities, unisex toilet with toilet paper, and showers with tokens (included in the price). Hot water at the washing-up sinks. A very beautiful path leads over the dune to Portbail. We would be happy to come again.

Three stars for the exceptional seaside location, 1 toilet and 1 sink open, two showers not in operation. Not worth the €33.00 rate for 2 people with electricity.

Small motorhomes and vans can park directly by the dune with a great sea view. Otherwise, mostly small cabins on the manageable site. Showers and toilets in perfect condition, two washing machines, a small playground and pétanque court, friendly staff. We paid €30 per night without electricity.

Pitches facing the sea, it’s truly magnificent. A great village for cycling. 18 km of cycling routes, all flat. The sanitary facilities are a little run-down but clean. €33.22 per night for 2 people in a motorhome with electricity.

Change of ownership for this campsite, now run by young people who deserve to succeed. Motorhome pitches facing the sea, excellent welcome. We highly recommend this campsite.

Very disappointed. We arrived around 11 a.m. and were told that motorhome arrivals were at 2:30 p.m. We didn’t stay—too bad for them.

Hello everyone. We found this campsite very pleasant, with an exceptional sea view. Friendly welcome. The sanitary facilities are very clean, with plenty of hot water and toilet paper. I recommend it.

We were there for 2 nights, stunning place, really quiet and beautiful. The owners of the place were really nice and helpful at any time.

The lady at reception gave us a wonderfully warm welcome. We were even able to look at several pitches first and then decide. The pitches on the dyke are very large; two campers/vans could have fit on ours. Wind is definitely something to consider with pop-up roofs. At 20–25 knots, we eventually put the roof back down.

Nature campsite. Great spot with these pitches facing the sea. Beware of the west wind, which can blow quite strongly. Park the motorhome with its back to the wind for protection. Sanitary facilities are far away but clean. No swimming pool. Rustic welcome from the owner.

What a fantastic place—motorhomes stand directly beside the wide, expansive beach. Naturally, it’s somewhat windy. But you can truly relax and enjoy the views of the tides and sunset here. Very friendly staff, rather basic sanitary facilities. A bar right on site, and another tip: a beach bar after the bridge. We’ll gladly come back.

Friendly campsite, indeed a little expensive if you aren’t placed facing the sea (these pitches are the whole point of the campsite; without them I wouldn’t have stopped here). The sanitary facilities are old but functional. It was quite windy, but the night was very calm and pleasant—really a lovely stay in the great outdoors.
