The location, photos, and associated comments do not match. The actual spot is down by the chairlift and wildlife park: a large parking area, with no services at this exact location apart from bins, and free. Quiet and convenient for hiking to Lake Aude or visiting the wildlife park. There is another parking area higher up, but it is currently closed in preparation for the Tour de France.
Very good place to spend the night and go skiing; the camper area was full. There were six motorhomes and there were no problems. It was a weekday, not a holiday.
Good, quiet night—as long as you are not next to noisy Spaniards.
Parking area occupied by squatters and unwelcoming. Advice for converted vans: we preferred to spend the night in the oversized-vehicle parking area by Lake Matemale below, free in June until 9 July. Much more pleasant, with toilets available and open all night.
