126 Casthorpe Road, NG32 1JT, Denton
Been here?
Denton’s Wharf is a large turning area beside a peaceful canal, with a small boat launch suitable for kayaks or SUPs. The area is fairly level and quiet overnight, although the entrance is easy to miss and dog walkers use the site. There are no facilities, and recent visits found considerable litter and fire pits. Please take all waste away and respect this working canal.

I’ve used this spot a few times over the last few years, recently it has become scruffy, lots of litter and fire pits, it’s a real shame because it used to be spotless. Last time I was there I cleared about 6 bin liners full, someone had left a huge amount of rubbish. If you go there try and litter pick before you leave, if I was a local I’d be fuming.
Great quiet apot - but someone jas left a lot of litter Friendly localsand a really nice spot but please cherish it. I will remove as much of the left litter that I can take but please help keep this spot clean and special.
Great quiet spot - bit someone has left a lot of litter which I will remove
Had a very quiet night, almost too quiet. Excellent place to wake up for breakfast by the canal. Fairly level. First dog walker was at 8am. The turning is easy to miss!
Beautiful spot near a canal. Has a small boat ramp with a gravel parking area. The road leading to the area has been repaved and is pretty smooth to get back. We had three others join us on the first night. We stayed a second night because it was so wonderful to stay.
the road accessing this spot is.closing on Wednesday for resurfacing. not sure how long for, a gent from the canal preservation society is putting up warning signs today.
lovely spot. very quiet apart from someone revving their engine at around midnight and woke me up, but it was a Saturday night.
Beautiful spot, so peaceful.
A very quiet little spot. I had breakfast with the swans.
Very nice space; stopped here on my way back from South Wales. Plenty of space, peaceful. Good number of walks. And if you're into magnet fishing, happy days.
Fantastic location right next to the canal. 2 mile walk to Grantham one way 1.5 mile walk to pub in the other direction. Swans with 8 cygnets swam by & rested by the van. Idyllic spot. Thoroughly recommend.
Gate closed. Private property.
nice view of the river and baby swans, it's also quiet. first night we were three vans and it was quite windy but we didn't felt exposed. Sunday we were alone. mind the road it's in very bad condition but if you go slow is ok. very busy on shiny days. here's a tip, if you park close to the river there's no signal but a bit behind its fine. it's not private property, you've been in the wrong road
Lovely peaceful and quiet. Access road passable with care.
It’s a lovely spot once you get there. Some dog walkers come and go but we had a very pleasant sleep. Just a shame the track is in such poor condition.
A beautiful spot by the river, very peaceful and nice walks from the van. The approach road is terrible and it was dry. I would be very wary of attempting it in the wet without AWD.
Good spot, quite and countryside. Access road a bit of a nightmare.... beware.
If you are brave enough to risk the ginormous both holes (and they are HUGE, and lots of them) on the long road down to the spot then you will be welcomed to a beautiful area right by the canal and tow path, it states 2 spaces but with considerate parking you’d fit 3 comfortably. There’s nothing better than waking up to a beautiful sunrise surrounded by ducks, swans and countryside, enjoy!
This is a fantastic location… my first place to ‘try’. The entry road is very bumpy, loads of pot holes…. But I made it in a lowered/modified T6.1. I will visit again very soon.
Would be amazing but the road in is way too bad for my sprinter. If you’re gonna go there, walk the entrance road as it gets worse at the far end. Wish I could’ve parked there.
