Riksveg 13, 4110, FORSAND
Been here?
FORSAND, Riksveg 13 is a free tarmac parking area near the ferry, suitable for an overnight stop with fjord views and picnic seating. It is also used for fishing and as a base for Preikestolen, about 15 min away by motorhome. The site is often calm at night but can fill after 19/20, and ferry arrivals and road traffic may create noise; toilets are available near the ferry terminal.

Quiet place, great for one night. The location was good, and the toilets at the ferry terminal were not far away. On the adjacent meadow with seating, there was a lot of used toilet paper and feces. Truly disgusting! If you relieve yourselves there, please use a bag as you would for a dog and dispose of it in the garbage bin. Thank you!
We slept one very peaceful night.
Very beautiful and orderly parking lot. Many campers arrived, but overall it was quiet and highly recommended. Very good fishing spot with a long pier, though unfortunately we caught nothing. We set off from here for Preikestolen. Highly recommended!
We had a quiet night with a great view and even caught three fish yesterday. Arrive early to get a good parking spot; it became full after 7 or 8 PM. Overnight, there were several cars, vans, and many tents. You can take a short walk while enjoying the beautiful view, but you sleep door to door with others.
Fantastic spot. Very tidy and clean, with a beautiful view. Very close to the Preikestolen hike and in a quiet location. Highly recommended :)
Beautiful view, with a lawn and picnic area in front of the parking lot. Quiet place even though it is near the main road. There is also a large garbage bin. Fifteen minutes by camper from Preikestolen.
Very beautiful and quiet. Perfect for an early ascent of Preikestolen. Thank you!
Perfect camping spot; we liked everything. Plenty of space, quiet even at night, fishing possible, and the outdoor seating areas are great. We would definitely come back. Preikestolen is also only a few minutes away. Top!
We spent a quiet night here. Beautiful view and seating areas. Good starting point for Preikestolen, and within walking distance of the less-frequented and much quieter Sokkaknuten, with a wonderful 360-degree panoramic view.
Very nice, clean and calm spot to spend a night. Highly recommended
Wonderful spot for an overnight stop. A fishing spot where I caught eight large mackerel in 2019; this year, only one small pollock. Relatively flat terrain. Wonderful view of the fjord.
The spot is ideal for picnicking and spending the night before climbing Preikestolen. However, it is a victim of its own success, and the vans and motorhomes are really packed tightly together. The view is beautiful.
Beautiful views.
A free stop with a wonderful of Lysefjord, toilet at the ferry port a short walk away. A quiet night little to no traffic noise . Tarmac parking and relatively level. Very nice would stay again.
Wonderful camping spot for one night. Everything is well maintained and clean. Road traffic is not bothersome at all.
Great stopover, very quiet, with beautiful views.
What a lovely park-up. From there, we watched the lights come on in the small town on the opposite side of the lake, in the evening. Quiet and picturesque and a joy to visit.
Beautiful spot right by the water. There is no traffic on the road at night, as it only serves the ferry. Small seating areas for eating are available. It is also a good starting point for hiking up Sokkaknuten.
Beautiful camping spot directly by the water with a lovely view, seating, and a restaurant with toilets. Be careful: it is not open 24 hours. We could barely hear the road traffic.
Very beautiful camping spot, with a great view of the fjord, well-maintained greenery, and fishing possible. Unfortunately, the restaurant is closed after the season.
Quiet, scenic, illuminated, paved, and clean. At the beginning of the Lysefjord, opposite a modern salmon farm. Picnic tables and garbage bins.
Perfect for the night before hiking to Preikestolen. The view of the Lysefjord is magnificent! You can take a beautiful and reasonably priced boat trip on the Lysefjord without going to Stavanger: go to Forsand and take the boat to the end of the fjord, Lysebotn, and back. Check Kolumbus for schedules.
Nice, quiet parking lot with a beautiful view over the fjord. Suitable for motorhomes over 7 meters too. Several picnic tables are available.
Quiet, beautiful, free parking spot right at the beginning of the fjord. The ferry is not bothersome at all. Many benches and tables, including garbage bins. Spectacular view. Ideal for one night before visiting Preikestolen.
Perhaps the best free place we have stayed at. There were about 12 motorhomes sleeping here, six to eight on one side and the rest on the other.
Beautiful, tidy parking lot for overnight stays without facilities. You have a lovely view over the fjord and are not bothered by the road or the ferry.
Super beautiful spot with a nicely designed picnic area. Great view and no road noise. Unfortunately, we were bothered by the smell of urine at the end of the picnic area, because people with rooftop tents had gone there. There is a toilet at the ferry terminal—use it! Otherwise, the parking lot will probably soon be closed to overnight stays.
Very nice, lots of people but not a problem when the seating layout with tables spread everyone out nicely! No good swimming spot and I feel bad for the mooing cows nearby. The parking filled up very quickly, but road was nicely designed to fill even more cars along side of it.
We had a very quiet night here, with a beautiful view of the fjord.
We stayed here for one night before hiking to Preikestolen. We had a quiet night with no road noise, right by the water, and toilets are nearby.
Super place, quiet till morning, then little to no traffic (3 cars every 30 mins till 8 am). We had a pleasant night here, however we didn’t find any toilet.
Great view, seating areas, toilets, garbage bins, and level ground. Perfect for one night!
A little too much traffic noise, so two stars deducted. Otherwise, excellent!
Pleasant place to sit by the fjord, in a good strategic location by the ferry.
The asphalt has been resurfaced, and the islands shown there no longer exist. Otherwise, it is a great place, just as the previous reviewers wrote.
Excellent, newly created site. Grass, stone seating, and even a fire pit. You can sit wonderfully at the restaurant with a view of the water, and even when the restaurant is closed, you can sit on the pier in the chairs.
