We stayed here last night. We were the only van. Nice and quiet. No hassle.Translating
We spent one night here in December; there was another van staying overnight. Very safe place, with a slight incline that was easily solved.Translating
Peaceful overnight stay. Only van there. Car park was slightly slanted - but can’t complain! Lovely views and very quiet. Phone signal was hit and miss.
We stayed for one night here, it was amazing, clean and peaceful, we left the park as found. just a shame someone had thrown a poo bag in the hedge!! shame on them, why not take it and put it in a bin!
JUST A NOTE: PLEASE DON’T STAY IN THE MAIN VINDOLANDA CARPARK. Stay in the small overflow one shown in the first picture that’s more out the way. I know some reviews say you can stay, but the workers came and said otherwise. They get complaints from the locals and local businesses so they don’t want anyone staying in the main car park overnight!
wonderful spot. Nice View also on Vindolanda Roman Site. Pay attention. The direct road from Vindolanda entrance and car park is forbidden for cars and motorcycles. Abroach from North over the Roman Military Road. From the South you have a bridge with max. Load of 3t.
I stayed the night, arrived late and didn’t see any cars or vans. Got woken up by the farmer cutting the hedge next to the van just before 7am, not sure if it was bad timing or if campers are not welcome. Shame really because it’s a lovely location and very peaceful.
14/12/24.It's the overflow car park for Vindolanda. Really dark and quiet. Bit of a slope. Upto MWB vans only I'd say. Patronised the visitor centre in the morning. We were heading off in the morning so can't comment on the local area. Would stay again.
Perfect for sleeping and spending the day, super quiet and free, which is not easy in these parts.Translating
We came late during the night and we were surprised with the view fř the car in the morning. Thanks for this nice and calm place, no midges there.
A small spot beside a village road with little traffic. Views over the meadows and sheep. A rubbish bin and benches are provided. Thanks to the local residents for tolerating our presence. The place was clean and we left it in the same condition.Translating
I stayed 1 night, a great little spot. I asked at Vindolanda first and would have gone back to visit and have breakfast but sadly not dog friendly.
Amazing spot. Roads a full open. I asked in Vindolanda museum if I could stay the night and they said no problem, in the bitum parking, not the gravel park as its not them property. Fantastic night, very quiet. No 4G in the carpark, but on the small road next to it, I have signal.
Superb quiet overnight spot. Arrived after 9 p.m. and left early. Worth the detour from the main road. The Roman remains look superb.Translating
