Mountain parking, camping prohibited

Vast dolomite area with several levels: - Bottom: motorhomes accepted, no camping. - Middle: daytime parking for hikers. - Top: not really listed, but if you manage to climb the small slope, there are a few spaces for 2 to 3 motorhomes per area, so 10 to 12 in total. We spent the night there, with no checks... but there was a lot of noise until after 11 p.m., and the parking area was quite full.

There is a sign prohibiting camping but theres loads of campers staying here overnight. We stayed here 2 nights unbothered. The police came at 9am and weren’t happy with camping chairs being out. The place is HUGE, even in July there’s loads of space. No height restrictions. Free. Even people in tent boxes/car with separate tent (although if the police came I don’t think this would be allowed).

Free, huge hiking parking area with a beautiful view of the mountains—an ideal starting point for the hike to Lake Sorapis. There are no toilets or rubbish bins. Please take your rubbish with you, leave no trace and treat nature respectfully so that this beautiful place can be preserved.

Good location. Space for tons of campers. We stayed one night. There was at least 75 other campers. Everyone was quiet and respectful. The area is clean (so long as you clean up after yourself). The only drawback is not facilities. But with the view, location and being totally free it’s 100% one nights stay!

A literal village has been set up here, loads of space, please keep clean so THE village isn’t shut down

It is a huge parking area where everyone who wants can fit. It is exactly the same as the one below; you can enter from both places. There is a slight slope, so I recommend going to the upper part, where it is less noticeable.

Very quiet at night; in the mornings there is quite a lot of activity. It is quite large, with many spaces.

Ideally located at the start of numerous hikes. We spent one night here to hike to Lake Sorapis in the morning. The parking area itself is nothing special, but it has a beautiful view of the mountains and plenty of space. We were pleasantly surprised by the quiet, despite the large number of campers. If you do not have leveling blocks, the lower part of the parking area is fairly flat.

Large parking area with lots of space and a superb view of the Dolomites' peaks. We spent three non-consecutive nights here. There is no need to take the steep slope; the spots farther down are very pleasant and well located. I highly recommend it.

Very spacious parking area with several levels. We stayed on the lower one and, even arriving late, had no problem parking. From here you can easily start the trail to Lake Sorapis: climb the slope and, when you reach the upper parking area, there is a path leading to the B&Bs where the trail begins.

We spent one very peaceful night here with quite a few campers. There is nothing, but it is perfect for doing the hike to the lake the next day.

No charm, but very practical, and there is sunlight until quite late.

Free day-and-night parking. Very practical for starting the Sorapis hike on foot. No particular charm: large gravel parking area with uneven ground. There is a bin for rubbish. Please, going to the toilet outdoors is fine, but take your toilet paper with you! It is a toilet-paper cemetery.

One of the few free parking areas where camping is also allowed. We spent one night here in the spots a little higher up. Very quiet, beautiful mountain views and very close to the Sorapis trail.

Fabulous and very spacious. As someone else said in a review, please be respectful and do not create litter; collect any you see and throw it in bins elsewhere if necessary. So that vans and caravans can continue to be allowed to sleep here for free.

Spacious parking area, although not very level. Please respect it; there are few places this free and spacious in the Dolomites. Here they already charge you for breathing.

Huge parking area near the Rio Gere cable car to Son Forca, able to accommodate many motorhomes. Perfect for staying several nights, very quiet and with no prohibitions. Many hikes start from here; I recommend it.

Free spot with a magnificent view! Please respect this place. We saw rubbish bins, so please use them. It is possible to start the Sorapis hike from the parking area.

I confirm that it is a good mixed parking area, excellent for campers, quiet at night and very full during the day. I join the appeals to keep the parking area clean and appreciate the fact that we are near Cortina and have free parking. If we look around in the various valleys, we see that this is not so easy. Thanks to the municipality of Cortina.

Huge parking area near the start of the hike to Lago di Sorapis (add 30 minutes and 150 m of elevation gain from the bottom of the parking area). No toilets or water, but there is a restaurant nearby.

Just one night to start the hike to Lake Sorapis. We ate at the restaurant in the evening. Quite peaceful, bins available, but lots of rubbish around—it is really sad. Please respect the place better.

Great for spending the night, but keep a low profile. Act as if you are simply parked here so as not to take over the space; this is still a parking area for hikers!
