Unnamed Road, 80510, Fontaine-sur-Somme
Been here?
Quiet spot beside fishing ponds, offering calm surroundings, birdwatching and access to the towpath toward Long by bicycle or on foot. There is little shade and no services, and the rubbish bin has been removed. Access should be from Fontaine-sur-Somme, not Long, because the route from Long is interrupted by grass. Overnight parking is currently prohibited throughout the marsh area, including this location.

You will find many quiet spots around these ponds, as well as absolute peace and quiet. We saw no one until 10 a.m. There is not much shade and no services.
We met a fishing warden who was very kind, but he informed us that spending the night is prohibited throughout the marsh area, including here.
Very peaceful night, lulled by frogs, with birds singing in the morning. The towpath is long and accessible by bicycle or on foot.
There is no longer a rubbish bin, and currently a large pile of rubble is lying in front of the bench. On the other hand, the grass had just been mowed and a local resident came and planted new flowers.
Excellent, superb view, quiet with the gentle sounds of the animals. Be careful: arrive from Fontaine-sur-Somme, not from Long, because the road is interrupted by a grassy area.
I came here about two years ago and it was very pleasant... but tonight someone came to tell me that it is prohibited during the waterfowl hunting season, which starts today, 21 August. However, I was allowed to go farther west, about 300 metres away, near the small junction by the first pond.
Beautiful spot, super quiet and with wonderful views. An occasional car passed by... The police drove past but kindly said hello and continued on.
Still just as quiet.
We spent two nights here at the end of June, near the pond and the fishermen's huts, and had a nice exchange with one of them. A picnic table is available. Quiet place, on a dead-end road.
The site is only 280 m from the community hall, Salle des fêtes de la Catiche. I was there on a Saturday and loud music started around 3 p.m. I drove on at 7 p.m.
Magnificent spot, but we were moved on by duck hunters around the pond who hunt at night... The same happened at the spot 200 m farther on. What a shame. Go outside the hunting season.
Magnificent place along the fishing ponds. Thanks to the municipality and the fishermen for allowing us access. Very quiet, apart from a few cars passing early in the evening to reach private areas.
