An officially marked camper spot in a beautiful, quiet natural setting, suited to hiking in Madonia Park. The approach is steep and uneven, with narrow sections during the last 800 m; vehicles of 8,40 m have managed the route. Parking spaces can be muddy, churned up, sloping, or difficult to use. A picnic area with toilets and water is 50 m down the main road, while a nearby spring may not be drinkable.

The road is moderately steep and partly completely new; 8.40 m is no problem. The last 800 m are narrower when vehicles pass. There are not really camper pitches; farther along the road, parking lengthwise is possible, otherwise it is very uneven and bumpy. Great hikes. I hope it works: entrance via San Guglielmo.
Found the place and reached it without any problems. However, parking where the signs indicate is almost impossible. The ground is very uneven, muddy and churned up (perhaps by wild boars?). As idyllic as the picnic spot in the forest might be, we decided with a heavy heart to sleep somewhere else. The place would profit with a little maintenance once winter is over...
Great place to stay for night if you want to go for a hike in Madonia park. As a bonus you get to see herd of cows in the morning / evening. Access road was perfectly fine for front wheel only campervan even right after extremely heavy rain.
Really great spot, officially designated as a camping area. Water source or fountain available, probably not drinking water. As mentioned several times, do NOT trust Google Maps. Be sure to take the asphalt switchback road and do not go through the city on the steepest and narrowest road—that was tricky with our over-40-year-old, over-2-metre-wide motorhome. Have fun
Decent place in the middle of nature. Do NOT follow Google Maps for the arrival. Always follow the SR23 road; it is a few minutes longer but much better than the route indicated by Maps. I am attaching a photo of the signs to follow from the village. On the right towards Sant Focà
The place is very remote, and even the switchback road is tiring and steep to drive. The road has large potholes in places. After a 15-minute drive from Castelbuono, we turned around and drove back to the camping area in town, since Google Maps said we still had another 15 minutes to go. We have a 5-metre-long camper van.
great spot. easy access for small camper but dont trust google maps! it leads you through some very steep path over stone tiles but there’s also a normal street up. check the map and go the serpentines. picknick area with toilets and water 50 m down the main road. map shows downhill bike trails.
The two specially designated motorhome parking areas were still closed on April 26, 2024. The approach road is not recommended for motorhomes over 6 m.
