Canal parking, occasional trains

Very spacious area with few people. Starting point for a beautiful walk along the greenway beside the canal. You can cycle to the inclined plane. The train passes nearby and can occasionally disturb the tranquillity. Bar, tea room and light meals at Le Kingala, just steps from the parking area. Warm welcome, friendly atmosphere and good-quality dishes.

Pleasant, shaded parking area near a newly opened restaurant with a very warm welcome and good food. Cycle path on the lock trail nearby. Motorhomes are accepted and even welcome; the parking area is large and shaded. Trains pass during the day and less often at night, but it is not bothersome.

Very good parking spot, quiet. The Le Kinggala restaurant is next door; the food is very good and the staff are extremely friendly.

Beware, the GPS may take you onto a path alongside the railway. You need to enter the parking area next to the Kinggala restaurant, which replaced the crêperie. Perfect place to spend the night.

Quiet night, with few visitors that weekend. Possibilities for walking and cycling to the inclined plane. We enjoyed Valérie’s crêperie, “Papar Hazar,” at the old lock 7, a charming place for galettes with a homemade concept. Special mention for the small reading lounge in the parking area, at the foot of the stairs leading to the towpath.

Spent one night without problems, but it is near the railway. No trains during the night.

Nice place indeed. There are trains and a road, but they did not bother us. There were three of us. Shaded parking area, walks along the old locks, cycling to the inclined plane, and a very nice crêperie nearby run alone by a Breton woman. So do not be in a hurry, but the wait is forgotten when you taste the food.

We walked past the site during the day. It looks good and is a great alternative to the parking area at Cristallerie Lehrer by the inclined plane.

We went here for a Friday night in October, had the place to ourselves. It was nice and secluded, with a little road noise but hardly noticeable. Toilets were closed but looks like they would have been nice! Would definitely stop here again.

Very quiet and peaceful night. The trains stop running overnight, so did not really bother us, even though we are late risers. Solid level standing, but only a little muddy due to rain and the green soakaway surface. Thanks for the recommendation to stay here.

Very beautiful place, fairly flat, close to cycling and walking routes. Nevertheless, I confirm the previous comments about the trains, which can clearly be heard passing, and the slight location error. Turn at the parking sign.

Approx. 50 spaces, under 6 m. Unsuitable for large motorhomes due to the narrow access road. A dry toilet is located above the stairs. Nothing else. We were completely alone. The trains are somewhat bothersome, as is the road.

Almost quiet at night, as there was night construction work on the SNCF line, but it was not too disturbing for sleeping. Beautiful walk along the canal. Rather narrow entrance with a large vehicle. We were two that evening.

Very pleasant place. About 4 km from the inclined boat lift; follow the old canal to lock 19, cross the bridge, and go back along the canal to the glassworks. We spent the night with 4 other motorhomes. This place is near the railway and the road. The Par Hasard crêperie is open from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.; reservations recommended.

The motorhome area is remote, but directly beside the old canal, which no longer contains water. You can walk 4 km to boat lift 4 along a car-free path; a lovely walk. Next to the boat lift is a glassworks where you can watch a demonstration of how it is done until 5 p.m., and of course buy something. There is also a brasserie/bar where you can have refreshments. We stayed at the motorhome area with two other campers; it was pitch dark at night.

Paved, level parking area, partly shaded. Great surroundings, with old locks and lock-keepers’ houses worth seeing, beautiful walking trails, and very quiet. The trains can be heard, but are absolutely no problem; they become less frequent in the evening, and we heard nothing at night. Bakery with a small selection 2 km away. The crêperie was closed on Wednesdays.

Nice place... too bad the SNCF night trains start at 11 p.m. and finish at 5 a.m....

Wow, how wonderfully quiet it is here. Enough space for large vehicles.
