The parking area is marked for daytime use and is excellent for hikes. My motorhome stayed there overnight while I spent the night in the DNT hut at Sandhaug. I cannot understand the one-star reviews, since it is clearly regulated that you may leave your motorhome there, but you may not sleep inside it.✦Translating

Yes, overnight stays are prohibited, as the parking area could not accommodate both vans staying overnight and the many others using it as a starting point for hikes farther into Hardangervidda National Park.✦Translating

A friendly park ranger informed us that a new law has been in force since 2023 prohibiting overnight stays in the parking area. This place is therefore now suitable only as a starting point for beautiful hikes.✦Translating

A unique opportunity to drive into the middle of the fjell wilderness. In September, the parking area was visited only by Norwegian vehicles. Please read the signs at the beginning of the road, by the customs hut. Along the road there are only parking bays, and because of the wild reindeer you are allowed to park almost nowhere. The parking area was bustling because of hunting, which was fascinating. 10/10!✦Translating

Thanks to the municipality for this picnic area. We stopped here at lunchtime and it was really lovely and peaceful, with a toilet and a shaded picnic table. I recommend it for a relaxing break.✦Translating
