20b Rue de Virelles, 6460, Chimay
Been here?
A spacious parking area near Chimay’s historic centre and a supermarket, suitable for a night close to town. The former grass area has been replaced by asphalt, and there are no services. Supermarket refrigeration equipment may hum at night, while buses and nearby activity can also cause noise. The RAVeL and local shops are within easy reach.

Adequate place for one night near the town and a supermarket.
Lots of space, right in the centre of the small town and far enough from roads and busy car parks because there are additional parking areas on both sides. Anyone who likes staying close to town will find this a perfect place. We drove on into nature and cannot say anything about nighttime or early-morning noise. It was very quiet until 10 p.m.
In our view, the only advantage of this area is its proximity to the centre. The idea of quiet is of course very relative, but the supermarket’s refrigeration unit, running at night with a low rumble, disturbed us—we are light sleepers. Not to mention the buses that come to wait for their service, leaving their engines running from 6 a.m. In short, a very urban environment.
Sorry, but the grass has disappeared and been replaced by asphalt. It is still possible to sleep there, but waking up in front of shops must be difficult. We moved on.
Quiet place, close to shops and the centre. Right beside the RAVeL for cycling. Special mention for the small Thai restaurant opposite the supermarket, 200 metres from the car park.
No services, but very good place to visit Vhimay and spend the night after a few beers. We had slept also in the other parking in the roundabout which was very noisy, this one was super quiet.
