Via Decio Azzolino, 63066, Grottammare
Been here?
Free parking below Grottammare’s historic centre, with no camper services and direct access to the old town and beach. Recent comments warn that the approach is extremely narrow, steep and difficult, with a particularly challenging final bend; access is unsuitable for caravans and large motorhomes. Traffic noise from the motorway, railway and Adriatic road is continuous. The area is sunny, has fine sand rather than grass, and is mainly suitable for small vans.

I did not go down there; it is very tight and steep. I took the detour higher up in the town, which was a mistake: I barely squeezed between the parked cars and the wall. The final entrance to the parking area was so angled and steep that I preferred to reverse in. 7.5 m by 2.20 m, 5 tons. It is only gravel, with no grass, and the view is not even beautiful.
Strategic for visiting the upper village and the beach. Constant motorway noise, plus trains and the Adriatic. Always take Via dei Pini; if you arrive from above, you risk getting stuck. No camper services of any kind.
Caution: the road to reach it is very steep, especially the final left-hand bend leading into the parking area. If you have difficulty, turn into the road on the right a little farther ahead; there is a small area where you can turn around and approach the parking entrance head-on. Maneuver performed with a 6 m non-turbo camper.
Marvelous old town, spectacular views. The climb is very difficult with a motorhome, impossible with a caravan, because of the ramp reserved for residents.
Very narrow road to get there, with an uphill bend in the opposite direction exceeding 20%. Parking suitable for a few small campers. Absolutely not recommended.
Absolutely avoid!!! The road to the parking area is not suitable for campers! It is one-way, narrow, with cars parked along the side! We had to reverse all the way back—a nightmare!!!!! Even the residents told us to report the problem to the local police because all camper users get stuck!
Except during some times of day when it is almost empty, it is suitable only for panel vans because of the maneuvering. No shade, permanently exposed to the sun; in summer it is difficult to stay inside the camper because of the temperatures. Do not be misled by the photos: there is no longer grass on the ground, only fine sand that gets everywhere. Despite all this, it is the safest and quietest place to stop in Grottammare.
It is a mixed parking area shared with cars. There were other campers. We were just passing through but slept peacefully, slightly on a slope.
Very convenient for the historic center.
Slightly sloping ground. Very pleasant night.
Warning!!! Very steep access road. Otherwise, the place is quite okay. We only parked there during the day without any problems.
Strategic parking, also suitable for spending the night! Convenient for visiting upper Grottammare and just a short walk along the seafront.
Although there are no prohibitions, the local police came by to warn us that stopping is not allowed. During the day there are no parked cars, so because it is very deserted they do not come to check, but in the evening, when the car park fills with cars, they do not allow campers to stay.
