Camping Les Portes de Sancerre sits by the Loire with spaced pitches, shaded areas, and basic services (water, electricity, motorhome facilities). Recent reports indicate maintenance is lacking; pitches are overgrown with weeds and sanitary facilities deteriorate between cleanings. Road-side pitches experience traffic and sports-activity noise; river-side areas are quieter. Good for riverside location primarily.

A campsite unworthy of Sancerre. It is not maintained at all. The pitches are full of weeds, sometimes almost small trees. The sanitary facilities are the same; they are cleaned once a day, mainly with a vacuum cleaner—unbelievable, since the room is otherwise easy to maintain. We did eat very well at Le Bord de Loire!
Very friendly welcome, new and clean sanitary facilities, pitches near the Loire really excellent. Despite the heatwave, I felt comfortable there. A little road noise, but completely bearable.
Very nice campsite with modern sanitary facilities. Unfortunately, the sanitary facilities were dirty; rarely have I seen them like that.
Good wooded campsite, mainly with acacia trees. It is a shame that the road side is very busy, with groups for canoeing and kayaking that are quite noisy. The Loire side is quieter. The sanitary facilities are spacious and clean.
Stayed for one night. Nice site. Amenities clean with hot water in showers. Pitches are well spaced out. Cafes and restaurants a short walk away. Long walk and/or cycle up to Sancerre at the top of the hill.
What a terrible campsite. The sanitary facilities were renovated but never cleaned afterward, and are very dirty. Friendly reception. It seemed like it might still be a pleasant campsite in September, and fairly full. But in the evening a large group of seasonal workers arrived, it seemed—rough-looking people, lots of noise, and loose dogs. Later, the smell of weed came into the camper. We left quickly the next day.
Excellent site by the Loire, with some of the best toilet/shower facilities we've seen. Just disappointed that the site is over 2 miles from Sancerre.
Welcoming, fair price, clean. The downside is the noise along the road; canoe rental nearby from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., and golf and tennis are noisy on weekends.
Good campsite on the banks of the Loire, quiet, with modernized and reasonably clean bathrooms, including toilet paper and showers. You can reserve bread and brioche for the following morning.
Everything is good here: sanitary facilities rarely seen elsewhere, beautiful pitches, excellent. Well done.
Great campsite, very clean sanitary facilities, very warm welcome. At the back of the campsite, a small gate leads to the Loire. On the left there is a bar and snack bar with a very pleasant view of the Loire.
Perfect welcome from the young woman. Exemplary, new, and very clean sanitary facilities. Just one small downside: the grass needs mowing and low branches scrape against the motorhome. Evelyne and Christian.
The sanitary facilities are dirty; there was no cleaning from our arrival around 5 p.m. until our departure the next day at 10 a.m. We had booked a comfort pitch with electricity, which we did not receive. The people around us were inconsiderate. We do not recommend it, even for one night—it was too noisy.
Beautiful, quiet, small campsite. Friendly staff. €19 in the low season for a camper with two people, including electricity. ACSI gives a 10% discount. New sanitary facilities. Most pitches are under shady trees. About five pitches have a direct view of the Loire. Great starting point for bike tours and walks along the Loire. Worth staying.
Very warm welcome, very clean and recent sanitary facilities. One van without electricity and three people: €18.50 in the low season, a good deal! Plus, a pitch with a view of the Loire.
Excellent stay near the Loire; Sancerre and the surrounding area are worth discovering. All the improvements made by the new owners and the welcome from the manager, Laura, are paying off. Very pleasant, human-sized campsite meeting every need: vans, motorhomes, and more. Very reasonable off-season price, €17 per night without electricity with a dog. Highly recommended.
