10 Chemin de la Barthelasse, 84000, Avignon
Been here?
Campsite on Barthelasse island, 15–20 min walk (or free river shuttle) to Avignon center. Pool and restaurant available. Bathrooms are aging, unclean, and need renovation. Shower pressure inconsistent. Can be crowded, especially during festivals. Staff friendly. Convenient location but facilities need updating.

We stopped here for only one night. The bathrooms need more care and cleaning, as well as modernization. The showers drained poorly and sprayed everywhere, getting everything wet. The bathrooms smelled. It is certainly convenient for visiting the city because it is nearby, and a river shuttle takes you to the other bank in a few minutes.
Large, very busy campsite. We went during the Avignon festival. The campsite is a little expensive but offers good facilities. The swimming pool is very pleasant. Access to Avignon on foot or by bicycle is very quick.
It is in a good location because it is a 20-minute walk from the center of Avignon. The staff are very friendly. The pool is great for families. The bathrooms were clean but old and would need renovating. We stayed one night in July in a T5, two adults and one child, for €52.
Convenient campsite for visiting the city; mixed bathrooms relatively clean, but long showers with good water temperature. Convenient pool for hot days. Unfortunately, our pitch was completely in the sun. The city center is a 15-minute walk away.
Very dirty sanitary facilities, dreadful bar service; only the pool and shuttle are positive.
Good place to explore Avignon. Nice reception, they speak good English, shady pitches, and a beautiful pool area. The sanitary facilities need renovating: no hot water, dirty, and smelling of urine.
We spent one night in a van beside the promenade and had no problems. The pool was open until 8 p.m. in high season. Very convenient for visiting Avignon, about 15 minutes on foot; there is also a very practical river shuttle. There were many people because of the Avignon festival—the city was lively, which we enjoyed for sightseeing. Nothing to complain about regarding the sanitary facilities!
Very practical campsite for visiting Avignon. The pool is open until 7 p.m.; I would extend the hours on hot days, as we arrived at 6:30 p.m. and did not have time to use it. Very friendly reception. Greetings from Argentina.
Horrible night: singing, shouting, and homeless people occupying the riverside promenade in front of the campsite. Avoid these pitches; the staff knew and told me they had already called the police. Lol. We fled the place as quickly as possible. However, the staff were welcoming and responsive; they called me back and refunded the second reserved night. The only positive point is the free shuttle to Avignon. Four-star campsite.
Superb four-star campsite. Easy access for motorhomes. Grey- and black-water emptying works. Excellent welcome from a friendly team. The pool was very useful in the sunny weather. Close to the city. Fresh bread can be ordered every day for the next morning. Food is also available every evening. We will return.
Very friendly welcome; we spent two quiet nights here from June 7 to 9, 2026. It is great that you can take a small free ferry directly across to Avignon. We also took a wonderful bike ride to Orange. Highly recommended.
Very beautiful campsite in a natural setting. We were welcomed very warmly. Spaciously laid-out pitches. The sanitary facilities are somewhat dated, hence one star deducted. Otherwise, a lovely campsite for exploring Avignon’s old town. We would gladly return.
Spacious pitches, peacefully located. Lovely for cycling and close to the city with a ferry crossing. Sanitary facilities and pool perfectly fine.
The service was good, but the equipment was very poor. The WiFi didn't work. The hot water couldn't be adjusted and it was very cold at night. The shower head had to be used for washing hair before taking a bath. The campsite had no lights and it was pitch black at night with many bugs. It was very bad and I won't come again.
Very nice campsite. We felt very comfortable. Park-like grounds with lots of shade. The proximity to the city was also great. All the staff were very friendly. I deduct one point for the showers because the lukewarm water only ran for five seconds at a time. Then you have to press the button again and again. Otherwise, we were satisfied.
Good site. 25 minutes on foot to the city.
The place is very quiet at night for sleeping. The facilities such as toilets and showers are clean. Hot water. Close to the center, so you can walk there.
The great advantage of this campsite is that you can take the ferry to the city, which is very enjoyable. The campsite is very outdated. The sanitary facilities are not particularly clean. There is a lot of rubbish and dirt everywhere. There are hardly any pitches where you can stand in the sun.
Large, green site in a good location. A bicycle is useful for getting into the city. Very well-marked cycle paths to the city, which itself is very bicycle-friendly. The pitches are spacious and enclosed by greenery. One star deducted because the sanitary facilities, although numerous and clean, were poorly maintained. The showers were always hot, often too hot. Water for rinsing was rather cold. The site is recommended.
Close to the city, great location, friendly reception staff. Bicycle rental available. The little ferry to the city is fun, and the 20-minute walk to the city is also recommended. The sanitary facilities are not always very clean, and we also had fairly cold water in the showers. We had a motorhome and many shady pitches were available. Nice pool. The bread service is also excellent. We would return.
Good location for visiting the city. Busy campsite, untidy. Prehistoric sanitary facilities, dirty, too few, and exclusively cold water. Brrr. At €29, it is far too expensive.
The location for the city is very good. That is all, though. I can only agree with my predecessor’s review. Cold showers are unacceptable.
The site itself is probably nice; all the sanitary buildings are a disaster. The water is cold and all the toilets are without seats. When you mention it to reception, they say it is because so many people are showering at the same time. Complete nonsense: I was alone in the shower building. Nothing changes.
Facilities somewhat dated, but great location and staff.
The campsite is in a truly beautiful location and is very nice. The facilities are a little dated but adequate, and would be better if they were a little cleaner. The shower water is practically cold and the WiFi keeps dropping; it is practically as if it does not exist. For a four-star campsite, €29 is definitely too expensive.
Great campsite for exploring Avignon. Either by boat or on foot in 20 minutes. Also ideal for bike tours along the beautiful cycle path beside the Rhône. The staff are consistently friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, the showers are not always warm enough.
Excellent welcome, beautiful campsite, very well located. At the end of the campsite there is a free shuttle across the Rhône, and you are immediately at the Palais des Papes. Recommended campsite.
Beautiful, spacious site; sanitary facilities clean but somewhat old, great pool, playground, and sports field. Free ferry to Avignon. €22.50 without electricity. Very good value for money.
Ideally located campsite with spacious pitches and a great view. Friendly staff and uncomplicated administration. The sanitary facilities are clean and somewhat old. A longer night walk around the campsite offers excellent photo opportunities.
we came before 10 pm and nobody let us in without leaving passport or id overnight as deposit, they did not even take cash as deposit. 0 customer support
A great place to discover Avignon. The campsite facilities are very good, and the reception staff are friendly and ready to help. The swimming pool was closed (it will open on May 1), but it looks very good. A peaceful place beside the river, with Avignon accessible by free ferry or on foot. We stayed two nights and paid €24 per day. Highly recommended.
For me, the PERFECT campsite for a visit to Avignon (great location—the center is easily accessible, simple but sufficient facilities and sanitary amenities, beautiful pitches with lots of greenery, and very friendly staff). I was here at the end of April and it was pleasantly quiet. And yes, you can hear traffic noise (after all, you are in a city), but also wonderful birdsong.
A solid campsite for a visit to Avignon. The free ferry across is 7–8 minutes from reception. From there, you can explore the old town on foot. The sanitary facilities are very dated, but sufficient for one night. At the pitch directly beside the river, unfortunately you can hear traffic from the road opposite late into the night.
Perfect site for visiting Avignon! Thanks to the free ferry for pedestrians and cyclists, you are in the historic city center in about 20 minutes. Despite this proximity, the site is quiet, completely green, and offers generously sized pitches.
We stayed three nights and are very satisfied with this peaceful campsite. A good welcome at reception. We could not use the pool because it was being maintained. The other facilities were fine. The campsite is very well located for visiting Avignon and the surrounding area.
Very friendly welcome; the site is somewhat older, but everything is very clean. Since it was very hot, we asked for a shady pitch and got one immediately. From our pitch, we could see the bridge of Avignon through the fence. For breakfast, you can order fresh baguettes, croissants, and other baked goods.
Very good campsite, friendly welcome, clean facilities, services included. Perfect for visiting Avignon on foot, by ferry, or over the bridge.
Direct view of the old town and bridge. Twenty minutes on foot to the old town. Despite being close to the city, we had a quiet night. The shower was clean and the water warm. The toilets were also clean. Friendly welcome.
Campsite with a view of the bridge, 20 minutes on foot from the city center. Very clean and very friendly.
Stayed for one night; because of the rain, we quickly left Avignon again. Fine campsite; we were assigned a gravel pitch, so we stayed dry enough. Pleasant showers and clean toilets. You can order bread and croissants in the morning and have a coffee. Ideal location for visiting Avignon; for this reason, we would return!
It ok, better than an Aire, but…big kerb up to get into pitch with van, wifi fast when it connects but unreliable to find, shower temperature variable at best but mainly cold. Great location for Avignon sights though. Would probably try the campsite next door next time.
Why this site has four stars is a mystery to me. With luck, the pitches have a little grass. Ours was muddy because it was also raining lightly. The dirt stuck to our shoes and was carried into the sanitary facilities. We did not use them because they were not heated either. On departure, a thorough cleaning was needed first. Never again!
Perfect for sightseeing in the city!
The location is fine for visiting the city. We had a pitch without electricity and the price in October was completely fair. However, points deducted for the very poor sanitary facilities. Some cubicles had no lights, the showers were not adjustable, and some sockets were defective.
Very good campsite, plenty of space for a motorhome. The toilets and showers should be cleaned more regularly; otherwise, nothing to complain about.
