Hilltop parking, vehicle break-ins

Google also guided us via the unnecessarily complicated route (see below); it was very overgrown and washed out due to heavy rain. Be sure to follow the signs to the small church (see picture), where there is asphalt and concrete. However, there are also some small landslides. Overall passable, maximum 3 m high and 6 m long! At the top there is room for only 6 vehicles, with a breathtaking view of Sparta and the snow-covered mountains.

The site is accessible by a small vehicle, but not a 4x4, from the north. Menailon (the supposed tomb of Menelaus) is of great historical importance. But beware! Highly organized thieves are watching; in less than 10 minutes they had broken one of my windows. The police clearly said this happens almost every day.

Beautiful spot. BUT there are two ways to get there: - a wide, concrete road, 700 m after the gas station, or - a steep uphill track where you leave some tire rubber, and olive branches scratch the bodywork. Maps sent us the wrong way (strange, since we were arriving from Sparta, so from the north). We stopped at the second hairpin bend and slept there among the olive trees.

Only accessible by 4x4, dirt track with a slope. I left my 6 m, 2.90 m high and 2.20 m wide vehicle 1.5 km from the chapel. I did not sleep there; no theft, stayed 2 hours.

There are thiefs watching you and steal from your car!! Arrived in the afternoon and the next morning I went to the little church in sight. Obviously somebody was waiting and stole my laptop, tablet, ... while I was in the church for a few minutes...

Very nice place with a beautiful view. On one side you can hear the road below; on the other side it is quiet. We were alone, with only two people nearby in the morning. Very good internet reception (Cosmote). Accessible even without four-wheel drive.

Great place with a perfect view of Sparta. Some tight bends, good firm surface.

The place is very nice, view is amazing. As mentioned before, take the shorter route from the north, not the southern one as instructed by Google Maps. I did it with Sprinter 3 m high, 6 m long but you can't avoid some scratches. The ground at the top is covered with broken glass from at least three different cars. so be careful, this place is popular not only among tourists.

Amazing views on snowy mountains. Unfortunately the top is only reachable by small vans. Left my truck at the parking of the chapel to walk to the top. When I came back 15min later my window was broken and my bag stolen. Don’t leave your vehicle unattended at the parking, it seemed a planned burglary!

Very nice spot with a great view and opportunities for walking. We came from the north; two hairpin bends were just manageable with our 6 m Ducato.
