Rue Bombelles, parking de la Citadelle, 57230, Bitche
Been here?
This free aire in Bitche offers five hardstanding pitches and unlimited grass parking below the citadelle fortress. Free water and electricity are available, though the water supply has recently been broken; waste disposal costs €2. Toilets are not open at night. The popular site offers walks and views over the Vosges; it becomes very crowded in peak season.

A great aire, the kind we would like to see everywhere. Thank you, municipality.Translating
Great parkup in this lovely little town with shops, bars and supermarkets. Plenty of parking spaces right below the fort. Service point for emptying grey and black waste and €2 for 10 minutes of fresh water. Thankyou Bitche for having us.Translating
Free water and electricity.Translating
Great for a visit to the citadel. We enjoyed a walk into the forest with a lake (3.5km away from the aire). Shame the black waste wash tap isn't working. Drinking water free but you risk sharing it with those rinsing waste. Thank you to the town. Translating
Large parking area with a great view over the Vosges. Service point for water and waste available and working! The citadel is impressive, and there is a free circular path around it. At the foot of the citadel is the “Garden for Peace,” which is also recommended with children.Translating
Great place with five spaces on firm ground and hedges. Many motorhomes can stand in the meadow opposite. Services available for a fee. Thanks to the municipality.Translating
Excellent place, waste disposal works well. Water supply defective. On May 24 there were about 30 motorhomes on the site and still many spaces available! Also suitable for very large motorhomes. Starting point for hikes and bike tours.Translating
We stopped for a very pleasant break in the afternoon. Clean toilets.Translating
Five official spaces and many more around on the grass. Too bad the water supply is defective; you can empty your toilet cassette but not rinse it. No idea where you could report this. A clean public toilet is available during the citadel's opening hours. A visit to the citadel is definitely worthwhile. The supermarket is more than one kilometer away and closed on Sundays.Translating
Have often been here, great. However, yesterday, May 23, 2026, it was full as if the city had been evacuated. More than 100 motorhomes and cars in between... We headed to the next one, which was empty and pleasant.Translating
Many thanks to the municipality of Bitche for this well-maintained aire with all the necessary services. A welcoming place to visit the citadel and the town and support local businesses. Well done to the town hall.Translating
Beautiful place. Too bad the toilets are not open all the time.Translating
A very beautiful spot with a view of the citadel. You can refill water and electricity and empty waste. Toilets and rubbish bins are available. The citadel visit is magnificent, and the town is pleasant. A very good bakery is a 15-minute walk away (we do not walk fast). The bannette, a baguette with a creamy crumb and crisp crust, is delicious. A very nice brasserie a little farther down.Translating
Beautiful location by the fort and a park. And a covered Saturday market.Translating
Very pleasant aire, thank you to the municipality! Attention: on Sunday, May 3, the water was out and the toilets were closed. Make arrangements before coming.Translating
We have stopped here twice and always had a quiet night! Thanks to the municipality!Translating
Top place, great location, large overflow area. Access is very narrow; we had to drive around a roundabout the wrong way.Translating
Superb spacious and quiet pitch, ideally located at the foot of the citadel (visit recommended) and not far from the small town. Covered market every Saturday morning, just two steps away via a staircase at the back of the parking area.Translating
Beautiful, large place, with or without electricity. Everything is available and the fort is clean. We had a quiet night there.Translating
Great place. We spent two quiet and safe nights there. Lots of space so you are not packed together. Rubbish bins and a water point are available (€2 for 10 minutes). The town center is five minutes by bike, with a laundromat and supermarket.Translating
Very nice area. The five designated spaces were full, but we parked elsewhere in the parking area. Eight other motorhomes did the same, so it is a popular place.Translating
Full marks for this beautiful, free, well-maintained and quiet motorhome site at a historic location, with service facilities. The nearby citadel, only a few minutes away, is well worth seeing and visiting, as is the approximately 1 km circular path with wonderful views. If I am in this area again, I will definitely come back.Translating
Thanks to the municipality of Bitche for the great overnight option! We were able to visit the citadel and then go shopping. We will definitely come back!Translating
Beautiful motorhome site with lots of walking space and stairs to the town for visiting the Saturday market, with the citadel next to the site. Thanks to the municipal or town authorities for this beautiful free place.Translating
Access is quite narrow. The free parking area is huge; the motorhome spaces are narrow and require driving in forwards and reversing out. Quiet location, very good mobile reception.Translating
Nice place, but it swallowed my €2 and I received nothing in return.Translating
Another great stopover for 1 night free. Bins and amenities. There is an army training site nearby, but noise stopped early evening and then nice and quiet. Sits underneath a Citadel, which was nice to explore the next morning.Translating
lovely free aire. 2€ for services etc but we didn't use them. get there early for a spot as it filled up quickly whilst we were there. town 10 min walk we were lucky enough to enjoy the small Christmas market. quite evening will definitely stay againTranslating
Thanks to the town: at the foot of the citadel, close to the town center and its shops and restaurants. We will gladly come back to sleep here.Translating
Beautiful pitches. Military base nearby, with daytime training and gunfire noise. A caravan and us stayed that night. We felt a little isolated. Not reassuring, as it is far from everything.Translating
Official municipal motorhome site with a service pillar. Be sure to take a walk around the citadel at dusk and enjoy the sunset over the town.Translating
Perfect for one night, quiet. Lots of spaces, so you do not have to park in the motorhome area. Be careful to avoid the streetlights, as they stay on all night! Part of it is muddy! The citadel is currently closed, but you can walk around it with a view of the town.Translating
Thanks to the municipality for making this site available to us. We arrived at night and the exact location is poorly signposted; we were about to drive back down when we saw the motorhomes parked there.Translating
There were many of us, and we parked in the large parking area. Quiet night. Beautiful walk to the citadel and through the Lorraine Colorado.Translating
The place is truly brilliant! Very quiet at night, and the citadel and the view are magnificent! Thanks for the tip!Translating
Five enclosed motorhome spaces are available, but overnight stays are also allowed in the parking area. Very quiet! You can walk to the citadel. Emptying grey water and toilets are free. Drinking water and electricity (two hours) cost €2.Translating
