Been here?
This wild spot is on the summit of Wrynose Pass, with breathtaking mountain views and sunsets and sunrises over the valley. The single-track climb has passing points, and several spaces are available along the pass. Nights are exceptionally quiet, with only occasional slow traffic, while walkers arrive in the morning.

we saw several small spots on the side of the road but this one was definitely the most beautiful with a breathtaking view. The night was very quiet, we could even hear the sheep eat the grass!
Great place. Spent there 2 nights. Will definitely be back when hiking LD next. Just to add- we were in a big van (Ducato) and no issues at all. Plenty other spaces along the Pass. Enjoy
Great spot with a beautiful view. Just a little damp.Translating
Visited again August 2025. Absolutely brilliant again , just quite muddy , wouldn’t recommend for big vans or ones that could get stuck in mud!
Brilliant place to stay. Quite a hairy drive up! I would NOT recommend it at all for big vans. Literally a sheer drop off the edge and not much room to manoeuvre up this road. However smaller vans and car campers it’s great. Had a peaceful nights sleep and a coffee next to the stream the next day. Not much 4g signal on sky.
Absolutely amazing park up. Stayed here for two nights we loved the views that much. Really beautiful sunrise & sunset over the hills. Room for 1 van at this spot, set back slightly off the road and sheltered a little by surrounding mounds. Stunning little stream running alongside (so gets a bit boggy under foot in wet conditions) but couldn’t beat the sound of the birds and running water. Great walks nearby, we tackled cold pike which is a fairly short climb to the summit (1 mile). Not too many cars passing, mainly just walkers. We were able to get signal here to stream TV (on SMARTY). Only downside is it’s a good climb up to the top (25% incline), with narrow single track road most of the way. We managed in our LWB Ducato but I would be cautious if driving in the dark as can be difficult to see the passing places. Would definitely stop again. Please respect this spot and leave no trace ??
Absolutely stunning! So peaceful. Only downside is the steep road. Will definitely be back as the views are incredible room for 5 vehicles if careful
