21 Saint Marygate, HG4 1LX, Ripon
Been here?
St Marygate is a pay-and-display town-centre car park with a quieter lower area suitable for overnight motorhomes, including some spaces for 8 metre units. Parking costs £2.90 for 24 hours, and it is busy by day but generally quiet overnight. Enter via St Marygate, not Victoria Grove, as the upper car park has a narrow, winding ramp. There are bins but no other services, while the cathedral, shops, pubs, cafes and walks are nearby.

What a great location. £2.90 for 24 hours. Cathedral just round the corner with Sainsbury’s, Greggs and Spoons just a few minutes walk. Stayed two nights and I will certainly be using again as it’s a gem.

Great site, centrally located with shopping facilities nearby. Public toilets are not far away, yet we had a very quiet night. I am delighted; there should be many more places like this!Translating
Bargain at £2.90 for 24hrs. Plenty space, peaceful nights sleep. Seen the horn blower at 9pm in the square. Plenty dog friendly cafes and loved the dog friendly canal tour. Lovely friendly town. Cathedral is impressive and you do hear the bells but didn’t keep me awake.
we stayed on a Friday night. very quiet all night. cars started arriving 8am, so a great sleep. the carpark is right by the cathedral and 5 minutes walk to some lovely cafes, pubs and restaurants. probably about 15 other moho's and campers there the night we stayed. Would definitely go again.
Excellent, inexpensive and well located. Good stop for visiting Hadrian’s Wall and on the way to Scotland.Translating
It’s a lovely town & ok car park overnight. Can get noisy but it’s in a town centre. Chinese takeaways, chip shops, pubs, coffee shops & lots of local places to stock up too.
Quiet and convenient, cheap parking, overnight permitted. Plenty of space on Bank Holiday Monday, and very close to the town centre. Toilets were closed while we were here. Recycling and small bins available, with free public WiFi. A great find, thanks Ripon!
£2.60 for 24hrs. can't fault it. 3min walk to golden lion, fantastic pub run buy genuine people, non commercialised nonsense. Sunday lunch is to die for starting from £9.95 for a small.
A convenient spot for a fair price. The vans were packed in closely together in October, but everyone was quiet and respectful.
7.2mtr Motorhome. Arrived following the instructions above no problem £2.60/24 hrs. Few minutes walk to a lovely town square from there walk to the Cathedral truly magnificent FREE Entry, Spa Gardens lovely to wander around. The Canal Walk which is a pleasant walk. Bought a noodle dog rub from Pet shop got a few supplies from Sainsbury's. 9pm in the square The Hornblower not to be missed.
very quite night plenty of room when we arrived just after 6pm. No services apart from bins it is a car park after all. We have a 7.9m motorhome and definitely would have found it difficult to park in the upper car park quite a steep slope the motorhome would definitely have scrapped at the rear. Very close to all amenities would stay again.
Excellent stay. Very quiet night. Lots of other campers. Amazing WiFi! Very close to shops and Cathedral. Felt very safe.
16/8/25. We had a lovely time in Ripon. This spot was perfect for the closeness to town, and we will definitely be back. We stopped in the lower carpark with other vans, which was peaceful and felt safe to stay. Thank you, Ripon council.
Popular and convenient stopover on way north or south. Close to town centre shops including supermarkets. Lovely cathedral just a few minutes walk away. Plenty of pubs etc too. Reasonable 4G signal on EE.
Absolutely packed, with vans parked only inches apart. A group of disgruntled locals gathered on the car-park roadway and grumbled. We definitely were not welcome, so we moved on. A pity, but it looks like the council will soon intervene and stop vans parking here.Translating
stayed here for one night was okay but some nob decided it would be okay to run a generator at 10pm.this sort of thing will get this great park up BANNED.
Very good parking for one night and visiting the town.Translating
Managed to find a spot on a Monday lunchtime and stayed overnight. Super convenient for the town centre, Sainsbury's supermarket and the Cathedral. Public toilets in the upper level of this car park. Don't miss the 'Hornblower' at 9pm in the market square. As stated before enter the car park from St Mary's gate. Thanks to Ripon Council for providing this excellent facility
