Been here?
Gravel parking area in the woods below a small ski resort, reached only in summer via a steep, narrow road with passing places. Nights are very quiet, often solitary, with fine views and cow bells; a picnic/BBQ area with firewood (sometimes a small donation) is a short walk away. No toilets and water is unreliable across visits. Mobile signal varies by carrier. Free to stay, though one local sign nearby reportedly bans overnight parking, and some locals dislike vans stopping.

Fine for one night.
Large parking area on the edge of the forest, near a youth holiday center, close to a picnic and barbecue area. Very quiet, with nobody around; only the sound of cowbells echoes through the valley. Around 10 a.m., a bus told us that the area could be used as a turning area for buses. There are no signs indicating this. Be discreet and take your rubbish with you.
Spooky parking area, everything abandoned. Access road is fine, no water, not a soul around, but still okay for one night.
Very interesting drive up; take the main road. The journey was worth it because the view was beautiful. If it rains, it is best to park on the left side, where fewer puddles form.
The locals really do not appreciate overnight stops here, even with a small, discreet car. There are signs at the village entrance announcing that overnight stays in the parking areas are forbidden.
A very pleasant view. Absolute peace and quiet, waking to the sound of cowbells around the cows' necks. Very little traffic when we visited; there were two of us. We slept wonderfully.
Very beautiful place! The sound of cowbells and birdsong. Nearby, about 50–100 meters away, there is a barbecue area with firewood provided and a breathtaking view of the rock face. The place is perfect for motorhomes or campers with a toilet, as there are no sanitary facilities.
Very lovely, quiet spot. For access, avoid going via Giswil: the road is very narrow for the first few kilometers, with passing places to allow vehicles to pass. Prefer the route from the other side via Schüpfheim; the road is wide all the way to the Brienzer Rothorn cable-car parking area.
Very beautiful, quiet place. We were here alone for one night in mid-October, and it was very peaceful. The forest is wonderful for a walk, and we enjoyed it very much.
Beautiful place in the middle of nature. We stayed one night; it was quiet and we were alone. There are fire pits nearby, and firewood is available for a small fee. We can only recommend the place!
We were alone, so it was magical. Tables and fire pits are available. You can even buy firewood. Quiet place in the middle of nature. Recommended.
Beautiful, quiet parking area for overnight stays. Barbecue area two minutes away on foot. The mountain road is somewhat narrow.
Many steep bends uphill, but absolutely manageable with a T5. At the top is a superb, peaceful spot, with the possibility of making a fire and firewood available on site. The lake is in the nature reserve and cannot be used. We slept wonderfully and were woken by cowbells in the morning. Free, and there is no “no camping” sign.
We had a lovely stay here, such a beautiful setting! It seems like a popular area for vans (we had a roof tent) which made us feel a bit safer. There is water available over by the basketball court but we weren’t sure if it was drinkable so we just used it for washing etc. There is also a bin and logs nearby for grilling / a fire. It had the most amazing starry sky we had ever seen, a great spot.
