Autovía del Cantábrico, 33569, Ribadesella
Been here?
A spacious daytime parking area beside the Sella River, surrounded by trees and grass, with swimming and kayak hire nearby. Overnight stays are not permitted, and police have warned that sleeping there could result in a fine. Access can be confusing because navigation may direct vehicles onto the motorway. The motorway bridge, nearby road and train can create noise.

BE CAREFUL!!! The site indicated that we should stop on the motorway itself, on the shoulder next to a gap in the crash barrier and quite far from the cave. We reprogrammed the other parking location and arrived perfectly.
Good place to spend the day by the river. Overnight stays are not permitted. The police woke us at 8 in the morning and told us to pack up everything we had outside; if they had come at night, they would have fined us. Coastal law does not allow sleeping near rivers or beaches. They were in a good mood and did not issue a fine, but we narrowly escaped. If you come, collect all the rubbish you produce.
The place is spectacular, but both my dogs ended up covered in ticks. I recommend that anyone bringing animals make sure they are protected with a spot-on treatment or a recent tablet. THANKFULLY there was a 24-hour veterinary clinic in Ribadesella where I could buy the tablets.
Perfect place to spend a quiet while. Almost level with the bridge there is an entrance to the lake with a shoreline for swimming.
The place is very peaceful and there is plenty of space. To get there, since Google and various search engines were sending us to the motorway above, we set the Hotel La Ribera as the destination, then turned onto the road to the right of the hotel entrance.
pretty quite. mind the location on map. it can confused the gps
Great, we stopped to take a nap and eat something. Quite a lot of noise from the motorway and the train right next to it. The people collecting the canoes also pass by several times.
Spectacular for spending the day with children, taking a swim and eating by the river.
