Transit site, no fresh water

The area is perfect. There is no drinking water or water for cleaning the toilet. Apart from that, everything is perfect.

The parking area is very well located, but we found that there was no water service because the taps had been capped.

We thank the municipality for providing this service, but both water taps are sealed. Only grey and black water can be emptied. It is a shame because the area would be convenient for visiting Bilbao, given the nearby bus and train services. Aircraft noise overhead is considerable, but the planes are not very frequent. We did not sleep here.

It is a shame that the water does not work. It makes it very difficult to keep the emptying area clean. What a shame. If the water supply is too expensive for the council, they could at least provide a paid service. Thanks to the council anyway for allowing the area to continue.

If you like living with your neighbours, planes, young people and music, head for this area. I lasted 10 minutes.

Ideal for an overnight stay before a flight from Bilbao. Not really attractive between apartment blocks and a small stream, but it has fresh water and a disposal station. Directly under Bilbao's flight path, but that also suits an aviation enthusiast at night.

Good place to visit Bilbao, 200 metres from the bus and train stops to the city. Planes fly overhead but are not too bothersome. No planes pass between midnight and 7 a.m.

Feels safe. Grey water dump, toilet dump and trash disposal available. Both fresh water taps were shut off. There's a cabinet with a power outlet - I connected, no signs prohibiting it, worked fine. Only water I found was at a nearby bike repair station (small tap, enough for a couple bottles). Planes fly very low overhead every 5-10 min - avoid if noise bothers you. Otherwise no issues.

We only wanted to fill the fresh-water tank, empty grey water and dispose of the toilet waste. Unfortunately, the taps were completely screwed shut. We could only empty the grey water and rinsed the toilet with our last fresh water. So the site can really only be used as a parking area. Planes fly very low, so it is not recommended.

We had a quite night and felt safe. Planes fly right over but not at night. There is a nice grass field next to the parking lot. The designated camper places were full so we parked in a normal spot without any issues. Next to te train station so easy to explore the van.

I give four stars simply because the water tap does not work. We spent two very peaceful nights here and felt safe. The station is a few minutes away, where you can take the train to Bilbao for 4.40 euros round trip. There are green spaces nearby for walking the dogs. The planes are very noisy, but they did not bother us.

Update as of 7 June. Grey- and black-water dumping works, but no water is supplied, as the pipes have been professionally capped, both for rinsing the cassette and for filling with drinking water.

Couldn't get a spot because people had their tables and chairs out in multiple spaces, even though the sign says this isn't allowed. Used the dump station and left. Shame because there aren't many places for motorhomes around Bilbao.

After two campsites were full, we were happy to find a really nice spot here. The place itself deserves four stars. We arrived at 7 p.m. At 7:20 p.m., a group of teenagers began causing a disturbance directly behind our motorhome: loud music, shouting and banging on the wooden wall of the bus shelter. We left immediately.

We came here because we didn't want to have our camper broken into in Bilbao. The only issue we had was that loud music was playing until 1:30am followed by drunk people making noise in the parking lot on Saturday. Don't come to the campsite from the north side like Google Maps tells you to. There is a long skinny road.

Very secure parking. There was a concert that night, so it was very noisy, but that must have been exceptional, on the night of 23 May, and no partygoers came onto the parking area. We left our vehicle there for the weekend while taking a flight and found it intact. A small shop is nearby, as well as a grey-water dump, playground and shade.

Apparently next to a disco or bar. Planes flew until midnight, so loudly that it felt as though our motorhome were the runway, and the music continued until 6 a.m., including drunk karaoke. It was incredibly loud. On the plus side, public transport connections are good. We arrived around 11 p.m. and got the last spot; the other spaces were already full from 9 p.m.

All water still switched off. Can empty grey and black WC. Some local motorhomes parked here. The bus to the airport is at the top of the road and costs €2.30, cash only. Our favourite menu del dia restaurant Urbasa is closed but had a lovely combination plate in Cafetería Bar Bidegorri.

Felt safe & van was secure. Tram station is a 3 minute walk up the hill to Zamudio station. It takes 20 minutes to get to Bilbao centre. Tourist information is 6-7 minute walk from Zazpikaleak stop on tram line. Free WiFi throughout Bilbao city centre. Unfortunately no water is available as capped, although can use bike unit at entrance of car park or at Zamudio station there is a water fountain.

How can anyone complain about an area like this? Spacious, level pitches, a dumping area, free Wi-Fi, a space for children to play, and a beautiful green park with tables for eating outdoors. And regarding the aircraft noise: honestly, if someone is looking for absolute silence, perhaps they should stay at home.

Easy to find with google maps. Very busy - only local campers. No room for us. Waste of time!

For visiting Bilbao, I think this is the best option. It is true that you should not follow the GPS: we went along a narrow road for a kilometre or a little more. It is passable, but if you meet someone, you have a real problem. When Google Maps tells you to turn right in an industrial area and you see the street narrowing, do not turn; continue straight ahead.

Good area for resting, but there is no tap for water, much less for rinsing the toilet. Some people use the water at the bicycle maintenance station, but it is not recommended as drinking water, since someone was using a hose inserted into the toilet to rinse it. There is a drinking-water fountain in front of the train station and at the church. Thanks to the community for this free area.

The area is well located, and the town is good for having a drink, shopping and eating. To get there, when entering the town it is better not to follow the GPS and instead follow the signs. The taps are capped and you cannot collect water. You can only empty waste.

Quiet free space for parking and emptying grey and black water. There is no water!

Good place to spend the night. Planes pass during the day but not at night. Close to the town for walking, having a drink and shopping. Beware of the GPS directions. Getting there was an ordeal, and we saw other people with the same problem. Check the route before coming. Following the council's directions gets you there first time.

One of the worst parking areas ever. Children on mopeds, a construction site behind you, and planes overhead nearly every 10 minutes from 7 p.m. until midnight, starting again at 7 a.m. Vans with dogs inside bark continuously while their owners are nowhere to be seen.

Quite noisy when planes fly over and construction work begins in the morning but quite during the night. NO WATER available but black and grey drop ok. Close to train station to get into Bilbao, get a barik card from the station to get cheaper train tickets.

Excellent area, a little noisy because of the airport, but close to the station for exploring Bilbao. We stayed for two days. I did not test the water, so I do not know whether it is working.

As a free area near Bilbao, and considering that there are very few of them in the Basque Country, it is very good: spacious landscaped area, children's playground, green spaces, train next door. But there is NO WATER, planes pass all day, and on a stormy Friday in February it was already full at 9 p.m. I imagine it is difficult to find a space at other times of year. Thanks to the council, but hopefully they will fix the water.
