9A Am Obergraben, 58739, Wickede (Ruhr)
Been here?
Free motorhome parking beside the outdoor pool, directly on the Ruhr and partly shaded by trees. There are no facilities apart from a rubbish bin, although pool sanitary facilities are available during opening hours from May to September. The centre is about 15 minutes on foot, hiking trails are 200 meters away and the Ruhr Valley Cycle Path passes the site. The area is near industrial buildings; the waterworks can be heard, while recent stays found the nights generally quiet.

Excellent area, with good shade. Easy access. Apart from the public swimming pool next door, which we did not visit, the rest of the surroundings are basically an industrial estate.Translating
Very quiet spot. All the windows are open and if you listen carefully, you can hear the sounds of the hydroelectric plant. That certainly will not disturb my sleep. I also did not hear any trains between 9:00 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. You can eat excellently in the city, a 15-minute walk away.Translating
Great little place for one night. No facilities. There is a rubbish bin and a swimming pool nearby. Beautiful location by the river. No traffic disturbance. A great base.Translating
Quiet decent place right by the water and in the shade.
Wonderful for an overnight stop. The pitch is nicely located under trees, which is especially great on hot days. As already described, it is a great place for cycling tours. Paper bins or rubbish containers are available. The sanitary facilities at the nearby outdoor pool may be used! Thanks to the town for this free option and the site!Translating
Very nice, quiet little spot, right next to the outdoor pool. Completely sufficient for one night; I would stop here again.Translating
I used to live in the army camp just up the hill from here. We used the pool for triathlon training. Magnificent to be back. (Army camp very long gone) Thank you Wickede authorities and community for making this spot available. Many of the gripes in other comments are real - but it’s a free stop. Trains and weir noises were easily bearable. Peaceful night enjoyed :)
A really beautiful spot, with free access to the showers at the outdoor pool directly next door in summer. Unfortunately only 3 stars because we have repeatedly experienced large trucks parking across the entire motorhome area. They also used the outdoor toilets, which was disgusting. We were quite angry and informed the municipal regulatory office. We can no longer find spaces ourselves.Translating
Contrary to some comments here, we find it wonderful. It is free and has rubbish disposal. We are here outside the season. We do not find the noise disturbing. On the contrary, a few steps farther and you are in the middle of nature. The campsite is not much quieter either. At 6 a.m., the chemical-toilet vehicles whizz around with their wheeled cases.Translating
We spent a very quiet night here. Thanks to the municipality for this place. We would gladly return.Translating
Unfortunately, our dog and we had a sleepless night. A hydroelectric plant next door, or whatever it is, pumps constantly 24/7. There are also railway tracks with regular train traffic about 100 m away. Otherwise it is very dark, as there are no streetlights. Rubbish could be disposed of. The outdoor pool was closed at this time of year.Translating
Very quiet place, really beautiful view. In the morning, walkers and dog walkers pass by, and they were all very friendly. They even provide a rubbish bin. Many thanks to the municipality.Translating
Stayed there for two quiet nights, Friday to Sunday. Rubbish disposal available. Outdoor pool closed. Good starting point for cycling and hiking tours.Translating
We stopped here both on the way to and on the way back from our trip to Denmark. A very quiet place, perfect for a walk, with supermarkets nearby and, best of all, free access to showers and toilets during pool opening hours. The only bad thing was that both times, in the middle of the night, a car drove past very fast and honked its horn to bother everyone.Translating
The toilets and showers can be used free of charge during the outdoor pool's opening hours. The staff let motorhome users into the pool if they identify themselves as motorhome travelers. This arrangement was recently confirmed by the town hall.Translating
The parking option is excellent. We arrived in the evening and found plenty of free parking space. If you arrive during the day, it will probably be more difficult, as many spaces are occupied by swimmers. There are also dedicated motorhome spaces. By the forest we could hear birds and see fireflies. The pool's sanitary facilities cannot be used free of charge. Admission costs €4.Translating
Quiet place alongside a quiet road in the evening, reasonably level and shady. Just some youths in the adjacent woodland; later it was quiet. Perfect for one night.Translating
Great for a stopover and overnight stay while passing through. The town with restaurants is within walking distance, and you can walk the dogs wonderfully. Thanks to the town of Wickede.Translating
Very beautiful, quiet place. At the outdoor pool, a friendly employee asked whether we wanted to use the showers or needed water. You rarely find that nowadays. Highly recommended, and many thanks to the town.Translating
Quietly located. Very nice and completely sufficient for one night. There are two rubbish bins on the cycling course. All kinds of shops are easily accessible. I did not use the swimming pool, so I cannot comment on it ^^Translating
Stayed for one night. When we arrived there were already 4 motorhomes there. Asked at the pool if we could park, they said as it was not busy its absolutely fine. The staff at the pool were very friendly. Use of facilities are free while pool is open, just tell them you are a motorhome. If you want to swim it's only 5.50€, cash only Great ice cream shop in town We would definitely stay here again
4 dedicated camper/womo places in a quiet street next to outside swimming pool and river. No traffic, occasional runners and dog walkers. No services, just rubbish bins. Great place to sleep over. Thanks for the recommendation!
Very quiet and beautifully located on the Ruhr. Also very suitable for larger vehicles.Translating
Nice parking place, idyllically located. However, there seems to be a water mill directly opposite on the Ruhr, in the weir, making rhythmic banging noises day and night. Very unusual for me!Translating
The pitch is directly on the Ruhr, beside a barely used road. We stayed for two nights. There is a rubbish bin for waste disposal. Occasionally a train can be heard, but it did not bother us. In the morning, some walkers with their dogs passed by. We will certainly return soon.
Perfect for a quiet overnight stay while passing through. Rubbish bin available and clean.
A truck and another bus were also staying overnight with me. It was fairly quiet. Occasionally a dog owner passed by with their pet. I actually did not notice the swimming pool. The place is very suitable for one night.
