Forest hiking, rough dirt access

Good starting point for hiking. Swimming available. No trash bin!

Good parking area for the night before hiking the next day. The toilets are great, and drinking water for the hike is available from a pump. Small jetty for swimming, but there are many mosquitoes. It was very quiet at night with two other campers. However, hikers with cars arrive very early in the morning. The road is not recommended in rainy weather.

Perfect parking area for starting hikes. It is very quiet both during the day and at night.

A beautiful little place, just as you imagine it, with a toilet, covered fire pit, firewood, and a lake for swimming. It is also a starting point for hikes. The site is quite popular, however.

A quiet place for hiking in the national park. Toilets are available; there is now a new red building. Fire pit and covered cooking area with a stove, operated with wood. Firewood available. Water pump works well. Due to the tall trees, the site is quite dark.

Quiet place to spend the night and enjoy several trails. Barbecues are available and you can swim in the lake. Dry toilets. There are about 7 km of dirt road to get there. To use the drinking-water fountain, you have to use the cabin's axe, as shown in the last photo.

Coming from the south, we followed the previous advice (thank you!) and arrived from the west via Route 9004, Hämeenkyläntie—not ideal if it has been raining heavily—then Nimisenkankantie. It was worth it! Very beautiful, level parking area, spotless dry toilets, and fresh, delicious drinking water. The forest is splendid, the lake is magnificent, and there is a beautiful jetty for swimming! And it is quiet!

A small and lovely parking area in the middle of the Finnish wilderness. Quiet and peaceful at night. A few other campers were present. Fresh dry toilets, and water is available from a well. Beautiful hiking trails start from the parking area. The road there was potholed and rather poor, but it is still perfectly manageable if you drive slowly and carefully!

Warning: road closure!! The national park, and therefore this parking area, cannot be reached via Hopeatie! We came via Hiidenportintie. The parking area is large and relatively empty at night, but fills with hikers during the day. There is a recycling station, a well with delicious drinking water, and a lake where you can swim nicely. The toilets have no toilet paper.

Very quiet place and the hikes are really great. Unfortunately, there is only a small grate at the fire pit. Firewood was available but difficult to chop. The bin was unfortunately overflowing. We came from the south, and Google Maps directed us through the east into the park—about 60 km of more or less good gravel road. It is better to enter the park from the south via the west and follow the official signs!
