This is a free gravel parking area before the official visitor parking and bridge, near the Rio Tinto and the mine railway. Parking before the bridge is tolerated, but staying overnight after the bridge is prohibited. The bridge is passable, though low rear ends risk damage during access. There are no services, and the nearby factory causes some noise.

Free parking, tolerated before the bridge. After the bridge, overnight parking is forbidden. Some noise from the factory next door. Pleasant place near the Red River mine.
A great spot; we stayed 2 nights and took the 1130 train. I added a photo of our motorhome going over the bridge after the earlier commentary was concerned. The bridge is fine. Do though BEWARE on your access if you have a low rear end. Our back bumper was torn off completely. This place was peaceful and gave great access to walks along the valley and of course the train. Buy tickets online.
Nothing particularly special, with the road passing above. Convenient because it is close to the FERROCARRIL train station and the little railcar train to Mars on Terra, operating Saturdays and during school holidays. I did not even go to the station parking area for the visit; I preferred to stay here because the bridge seemed narrow. Very good 4G reception!
We had two quiet nights. Nice with a dog; you can walk onto the grounds of the abandoned buildings, about 30 minutes on foot. No services at all.
