A free parking area beside the Acheron River where overnight stays are possible, surrounded by beautiful nature and walking routes. Public toilets and water are available, although some toilets are not particularly clean. The river is 14°C, and canoe rental costs €25/pers while rafting costs €30/raft for 3 km, with transport back included. The walk to the springs takes 10 minutes, and parts of the gorge require swimming up to 5m.

Amazing Spot to stay for a day/night. Absolutely amazing experience to walk up the river to the bridge and walk back the track beside the river or do it the other way around! Sometimes you have to swim (max 5m) . Take waterproof bag / phonecase with u.
We had two quiet nights here, along with several other campers. On the first evening, the police drove past but did not stop. It is not very busy yet, and the area is beautiful. In the town, there is a truck scale in front of Tsironis Bakery. For €2, you can weigh your vehicle at any time; the payment box is on the wall next to the toilet and prints a receipt. Interesting!
Excellent place to park and stay the night. Right at the river. Highly recommended to walk the old trail up to the bridge and go back through the water (downstream) back to the parking. Water shoes and drybag needed. Small parts swimming. Great adventure through beautiful nature. For route search for 'Acheron Hiking / River Trekking' in Wikiloc.
Brilliant free park up on the banks of the River Acheron. Very serene and quite busy with vans, though there was plenty of space. Public toilets clean. I’m not sure how tolerated overnight parking would be in high season, but it was perfect for a night in May.
A beautiful overnight spot. We hiked through the Acheron Gorge and parked the camper right by the water. Wonderful nature. Unfortunately, the existing portable toilets at the sales huts are not particularly clean, perhaps because of the many hikers and visitors.
Beautiful place by the river. You are free to choose where to park. Quiet night. The gorge still has plenty of water, icy cold.
Very pleasant place, quiet night. Toilets not very clean, but well… the parking area is free.
A wonderful overnight spot. There are already several people here, but there is enough space. For the hike, you should go to the other side or bring water shoes; from this side, you cannot enter the gorge without getting your feet wet. Beautiful place ♡
Lots of space, superb river. Idyllic. But many motorhomes even in the off-season, and many people act as if this were a campsite.
Absolute peace and quiet. Views of the river. Walks along the bank or on the trail to the pools, which begins on the opposite bank. No facilities. Supermarket nearby, in the village.
Perfect quiet place for day and night. Amazing nature.
Great place, plenty of parking spaces for every type of car. Right by the river, quiet and peaceful; horses sometimes wander around the parking area. There are rubbish bins, and water at the beginning of the street. Excellent.
What a beautiful place. By the water, so you can sit outside the camper wonderfully. The toilet building was even open and was still being cleaned in March. The water was working too. Quiet night. One other camper arrived. There is a bakery and supermarket on the street when you drive back. We only walked a short distance here as well, because you have to go through the water to continue.
No problem staying the night, very quiet and supermarket/bar nearby. Great nights sleep as I was the only vehicle to stay. River was in full flood after the recent rain but car park stayed dry.
Good spot, touristy, and has nothing to do with 'wild camping'. Idyllic, clean, with rubbish bins, easy to reach, and a 10–15 minute walk into town to enjoy some cold drinks.
Beautiful spot as described. Contrary to the opinion of some users that the Dutch behave badly, I also have to strongly criticize the Germans who spread themselves out properly and comfortably with all their belongings. Not acceptable. People, you do know that there are special websites where you can be found behaving like this…
Huge parking area, free for all types of vehicles. Easy access. There are squat-style toilets. Volunteers clean them EVERY NIGHT; leaving a tip in the box is appreciated. Bring cash for the jewelry/craft stalls you encounter along the river path ;) they make their living from that. River water is freezing. We spent two great nights here. Today a fire started behind the mountains!
Along the Acheron River there are several free parking areas, but the marked location leads you to this last one, which is very large and free, with space for both motorhomes and cars. At the parking area there are also stands where you can book a rubber-boat or kayak trip along the river—an amazing experience! I stopped here, but several motorhomes spent the night. Quiet place! Recommended.
You can stand here well, and it should not be a problem if you keep a low profile. There are even some trees providing shade, especially for small campers. Nevertheless, some people still drive their cars directly onto the riverbed. Please stop doing that, so hopefully the place will remain available.
Ideally located to enjoy the river and its activities. We also spent the night without any problems, together with three other campers.
Perfect parking area for hiking through the river and gorge. There are also small shops in the immediate vicinity. We only stayed during the day.
We spent two nights in the parking area without any problems; on the first night there were several of us. Not much shade. Very quiet in the evening when the parking area is empty. Toilets cleaned regularly (leave a coin). Great hike through the river!
Perfect parking area to start the river hike from here.
Great spot, free camping area. Access to the walk up the river and lots of other hikes. Peaceful and other campers parked.
Today the police came by twice within an hour. Spending the night in the parking area is forbidden. However, they allowed us to stay along the paved road beside the parking area.
Spent one night with about ten other vehicles. Quiet night and a walk through the magnificent gorges in the morning! Three stray dogs, but they did not cause any problems with our dogs.
