Strada Provinciale 323 del Monte Amiata, 53023, Castiglione d'Orcia
Been here?
A free, quiet parking area beside a sports field, only a few minutes on foot from Castiglione d'Orcia, with a lovely view and level spaces. Free water filling and gray- and black-water emptying are available, but there is no electricity and only a few places. There is no shade, and buses and occasional cars may use the adjoining parking area.

Excellent, quiet spot with welcoming locals. There is a drain for emptying black water and a pump for filling fresh water. Next to it is a car park with a free cold-water fountain. The village is truly worth visiting. I would gladly return.
We spent a quiet night here today. A bus and two other campers were here with us. In the evening, cars occasionally came to drop off rubbish; otherwise it was very quiet. Unfortunately, there is no shade. On the other hand, there were hardly any mosquitoes, and at night we could see fireflies and stars :) It is worth taking a walk through the little village; it is very cute!
In fact, it is only an authorized parking area. Few spaces next to a sports field. Also used as a parking area for scheduled buses. Slightly sunken; I would say it is nothing special, sad, the kind of place that wants to be useful but falls short. Take inspiration from equipped areas in nearby villages, such as Petroio; much more and much better could be done.
I confirm what was said in the previous comments. Excellent spot, quiet, level, free, with waste dumping and fresh-water filling, beautiful panorama, and just a few minutes' walk from the village. A Coop supermarket is nearby. Be sure to try the pastry shop/ice-cream parlor in the historic center!!
A great place; yes, cars and buses also park there... There is fresh water and gray- and black-water disposal, in addition to free overnight stays. The view is unbeatable. Many thanks to those responsible.
Convenient stopping place very close to the historic center of Castiglione d'Orcia, which is definitely worth a visit. Fresh-water filling and waste disposal available, no electricity. Free stay and very quiet at night. Few spaces.
23 March 2026 We arrived with our 7.20 m camper and parked without any problems next to another camper that appears to be permanently parked here. Absolutely quiet and secluded, truly just 2 minutes from the village center. The only minor inconvenience was that at 4:00 a.m. a truck came to hitch up its trailer and left. We recommend it!
Convenient, level, quiet, and illuminated. It looks isolated but is not. Free water filling and disposal, convenient for visiting the village and the fortress.
We spent a peaceful and quiet night. In the morning, a scheduled bus parked near us left, but it did not disturb us. Picnic tables nearby. Free water and waste services. Thanks to the Pro Loco for making this space available.
Everything perfect: quiet area, very close to the village and well equipped. Waste disposal and water filling, plus a bar.
Ideal for one night. Several campers were there on a weekend. The restaurants in the village are well attended and partly fully booked.
As expected, we were unlucky that the bus started early and the garbage collection came, or something similar. Otherwise, it was super quiet until then. We had ordered two pinsas in advance from the bar. Everything worked perfectly. The small one for €7 is filling.
Very close to the town. Ideal for a night or for sightseeing. Peaceful and quiet.
Great, we spent one night here without any problems.
Quiet place to spend one night. There is a water fountain, rubbish bins, and gray-water and toilet disposal. Everything is free and just a short walk from the center of Castiglione d’Orcia.
One of the most uncomfortable places I’ve made the mistake of spending the night. I decided to stay because it was somewhat tolerable during the day. However, on Thursday evening at 11:30 p.m., a group of loud people arrived to play soccer on the nearby field. That said, the nature surrounding the village is quite beautiful.
On Tuesday at midnight, several cars arrived with 10 young men. Very frightening at first! The floodlights came on and loud soccer was played. No nighttime peace!
Large parking area 500 meters from the town center. Quiet and relaxing area with a beautiful view over the hills. Signposted as camper parking with a water fountain, fresh-water filling, and waste disposal. Highly recommended!!
We left our motorhome in this spot while we were visiting the city center, we were only two motorhomes so there were still plenty of spaces available because the parking is very spacious. We didn't sleep in this spot but it wasn't very noisy. It was completely free of charge.
Avoid it: parking for trucks and buses. We did not sleep a wink because the bar stayed open until 4 a.m.! A car arrived doing a burnout in the middle of the night and left two poor girls, completely drunk, before speeding off again. We were there on a Saturday night in February...
A quiet space in front of a sports field. There was a semi-trailer truck and a bus parked when we arrived; they left around 5 a.m. The waste-disposal point and water are operational. There is even a free sparkling drinking-water fountain 200 meters away.
Had a quiet night and a morning with a great view. The space accommodates about 5 vans. Also suitable for large motorhomes. Rubbish disposal is available on site. I would use this spot again.
Parking is easy to access, but there is a steep climb to reach the town, although it can be done without difficulty. In February, access to the castle was closed, but that does not prevent you from touring this small town. The view was superb and it is possible to empty gray water.
Parking with services, level and easy to access. There is a bar right next to it and the village is very close. It is used by coaches and heavy trucks, so I think it can quickly become full.
Thanks to the municipality for this stopping area. Convenient and quiet; we had a super peaceful night. Lovely village.
Stayed two nights with a view over Tuscany. Absolutely beautiful! Quiet even on Saturday night. You can walk straight into the authentic Italian village, and we thought visiting the old fortress was well worth it (€6 to visit both strongholds). Wonderful views! Water and disposal facilities were excellent. We did not see any toilets.
We spent two quiet nights with a beautiful view, and the fresh- and gray-water services were working! Really nice place, with a playground just a short walk away.
Considering that it is free, it is a very nice place; it has everything you need, and the view... well, it is the Val d'Orcia.
There was no space left in front of the tennis court; the cars and motorhomes were parked well apart. We moved a little higher up so as not to obstruct the bus that was also parked here. A little noise in the morning when people come to empty their rubbish, but a pleasant night.
It is very good, and because it is so high up there is quite a lot of fresh air. It has free rubbish containers, with no cards required, and the village is very beautiful and peaceful.
Free water filling and waste disposal, with recycling bins. Large, quiet, unshaded, level parking area. Five minutes' walk from the historic center.
