Rue de l'Ecureuil, 6440, Froidchapelle
Been here?
A free, large grassy parking area near the aquacentre and lake, with trees providing shade and unmarked pitches. It is close to restaurants, lake facilities, and numerous walking and cycling routes. Recent stays were quiet, although nearby infrastructure can sometimes bring noise. The site’s maintenance has deteriorated, with no rubbish bins and poor emptying services.

A large grassy area with some trees. Close to restaurants and the lake. Several excursions nearby, both by bike and on foot. We spent a very peaceful night.
Sad to see this deterioration and lack of maintenance—not even any bins anymore. The waste-disposal facilities are awful, and the good times are over.
Lots of greenery, perfect for shade while still having enough sun for the solar panels. Quite peaceful despite being close to the lake infrastructure. We really enjoyed it. Numerous walks and bike rides.
Unmarked pitches, shaded, and close to amenities.
I was able to stay here peacefully from June 1 to 3.
Very beautiful place to spend a night; unfortunately, there are no bins.
Very large parking area where you feel completely safe. Close to the lake and hiking trails.
No problems, but very crowded in early July.
A large grassy field where everyone can simply park. There are also trees where you can find shade. If everyone leaves it respectfully, everyone can enjoy it.
Very pleasant, free camping area. It is fantastic that they provide this free of charge. Within walking distance of the lake and all its sports activities. Very peaceful sleeping; there is no traffic at night. Recommended: across the road is a pizzeria with excellent pizzas. It is best to reserve because it can be busy.
Free, flat, with no size restrictions and trees, right opposite the lake leisure center. Very family-oriented; if you live in a city, it is no problem. If you are used to peace and quiet, move on—as we did after lunch.
In itself, a beautiful place for camping, but it would be better without the Roma, or whatever one should call them, who arrive in the evening with 15 cars to set up their tents. The lake is beautiful and inviting for hiking. There is also a small camping shop nearby.
Large free grassy area near the lake, grocery store, and restaurants. Ideal for enjoying the lake. Thank you to the municipality for providing free places. No services.
Very nice and big free parking. You can stay on a grass or on rocks. One entrance has a gate which limits the hight of the vehicle to 2m however you can easily get in from the other side. We were there on April, so there were only two other campers with us. Really quiet and lovely place to stay. Highly recommended.
At 2:30 in the morning, some people arrived by car with the music blasting to disturb everyone. What a shame.
Great free motorhome area. Quiet and clean. Restaurants are very close. Unfortunately, swimming is currently discouraged because of bacterial contamination. Such a shame—it was so hot today and there was a beautiful lake right in front of us, but we could not go in.
If you like being crowded by motorhomes then this is the place for you! Good access to the lake and the restaurants etc. There are plenty of other places which are a bit more peaceful though
Perfect, well located. We spent a pleasant afternoon and a good night.
We have been here three times and had a pleasant stay each time. It is a shame there are no service facilities. But there is a place a few kilometers away where you can dispose of waste. It was always very pleasant, and the Belgians are very communicative.
Very noisy, with a great lack of respect from the local youth—music, shouting, and drifting in the neighboring parking area. What a shame! The place could be very pleasant.
Not great: parking shared with cars, people park wherever they want, and the woods are used as a toilet. We went to the water sports center, which was not very impressive, and left to look elsewhere. To each their own.
Lovely spot. Please respect this place as indicated in the previous comment: no waste disposal is possible, but you can empty your cassette toilet in the village of Cerfontaine, 5 kilometers away. Address: AirePark, 29 rue des Roches, 5630 Cerfontaine.
Magnificent place and still free. A quiet night. Close to a brasserie, pizzeria, chip shop, another brasserie, and a small grocery store. Unfortunately, many people use the nearby woods as public toilets. I even saw some emptying their toilet cassettes at the foot of the trees. Then people wonder why access is banned for motorhomes.
The proximity to the lake is excellent, and there are restaurants nearby as well. Be careful on the grassy area depending on the weather. Despite the nearby road, the night was quiet.
Simple gravel parking area; the grassy section is unusable after weeks of rain. The only advantages are its proximity to the lake and its activities, and to shops, especially a very pleasant brasserie opposite. Another option is the Red Crocodile parking area 3 kilometers away; at the moment, the barriers remain open.
The separation between the two parking areas no longer exists. Cars and motorhomes share the spaces.
Very quiet at night during the week, with little traffic. We were able to park our converted vehicle without any problems.
Quiet place close to the lake. We slept here for one night in a rooftop tent without any problems.
