Been here?
This small dirt parking area on the cliffs at Praia das Maçãs offers spectacular ocean views and overnight stays with the sound of waves. There are around 6-7 places, a picnic table, rubbish bin and no other services. The road is generally quiet, although fishermen and sunset visitors may come in the evening, and the beach is 10 minutes away on foot.

Very beautiful place, not too many pitches, around 6–7. Wonderful view; in the evening and morning there are some fishermen.
Spectacular place to watch the sunset and spend the night listening to the waves. We slept in a minivan; there were two other motorhomes and a van. Everything was very peaceful and sheltered from the road. There is a path near the cliffs for a morning walk. Very beautiful.
An extraordinary place! We slept with 4 other vans. A few locals passed by (some of them with rubbish bins?). The sound of the ocean and very little traffic on the road above. Thanks to the municipality for providing rubbish bins. Please keep the place clean.
Wonderful place, with incredible views. Dirt surface, although the road is nearby you can barely hear it; you only hear the sea and it is very relaxing. Accessible to motorhomes of any size. Very clean; please let’s take care of the place to keep it that way. Thanks to the town council for allowing overnight stays in such a spectacular place.
Great place. Leveled, ocean view, spacious, privacy. ⚠️ On the shore and you can't mute the waves. No problem for me, not loud, background noise.
Beautiful spot, you can park right next to the sea. Magnificent view! Beach 10 minutes’ walk away. Slept well. People come in the evening to watch the sunset and leave fairly late, but it didn’t bother us. Recommended!
Perfect spot to spend the night. Just ocean sounds and amazing views. Please keep this area clean and be respectful so we can keep enjoying it :)
Perfect for one night with the sound of the waves. We were not alone and the spot is right in front of a few houses. No road noise despite the proximity. We parked along the low wall by the roadside. There is a rubbish bin.
We spent a lovely night here and felt safe too. A great sunset right in front of us and the sound of the waves day and night. There were several campers, yet no local residents said anything. Please don’t leave any rubbish and treat the place well!
Great view with an incredible sunset! The night was quiet, I recommend it.
Amazing view and amazing spot. We stayed here one night, just us and another van. Great experience with the sound of the waves. Felt safe!
A beautifully spot right on the cliffs of praya do Macas. Very windy on the night we where there, but otherwise quiet and calm. No services other than a picnic table and a trash can. Good for one night.
Small but fantastic spot. You can enjoy walking part of the Fisher Trail and watch the anglers on the cliffs. At night the surf roars incredibly loudly.
Everything has already been said in the previous comments. Simply great! We were there alone. Magnificent sunset. Wind, waves... We’re happy!
Quiet dirt area for free overnight stays, with beautiful ocean views, clean, and few people in January; you only hear the sea. Nearby there is another asphalt car park, but there you are more visible and less isolated. Within a 10-minute walk there is a wide variety of restaurants and the beach, although in January many restaurants, the public toilets and the showers were closed at 7 p.m.
Amazing spot! We spent a quiet night here and the locals didn’t mind us at all. It can get quite windy but the sounds of the waves are amazing. You can go for a walk along the cliffs. There are big trash cans only 2min walk up the street - please don’t over float the small trash cans with all your trash!!!
Mega spot! Some locals come here during the day, but they are not interested in the campers. We had a really lovely night here with another van. It was somewhat windy and you can hear the waves very loudly, so it’s unsuitable if you don’t like that, but we thought it was awesome.
Beautiful spot! There were about 4 other campervans parked in the lot when we got there. Would recommend!
Accessible with an 8 m motorhome. Magnificent view! We spent a quiet night, even with the fairly loud sound of the waves.
One of our most beautiful van sleeping spots! Facing the ocean, lulled by the sound of the waves, it’s pure happiness. The beach is barely 500 m away, very charming and perfect for a sunset walk. Unobstructed sea views, peaceful and soothing: a real treat for lovers of nature and beautiful landscapes.
Great view of the sea, so many waves that I stopped counting. Quiet night with wave music.
Free parking with a great view of the ocean! Ideal for a peaceful night :)
Very nice, magnificent view, 5 minutes’ walk from the village where you can find everything. Don’t miss the municipal market on the way out. We spent two nights there. A minor downside: it is very dusty.
We spent a wonderful night here. Very quiet and with a wonderful view.
We spent the night very well; there were a few campervans and some motorhomes. Very beautiful views.
Great spot with a magnificent view. It is better to arrive very early because the car park fills up at night (some vans had to turn around because there were no spaces). Despite this, the night was very peaceful, lulled by the sound of the waves. Rubbish bins available. Highly recommended.
Super spot right by the sea. We fell asleep to the sound of the sea. The nearby road is not bothersome at all at night. The approach is easy and trouble-free. There are rubbish bins and a picnic table on site. Please use the bins! Unfortunately, there is no toilet nearby. Otherwise highly recommended! Arriving early is worthwhile; there are always plenty of other campers there.
2 nights on site with an incredible view of the ocean and sunset. Easy access, very quiet and with very little traffic. The town centre is less than a 10-minute walk away. There is a water point in the middle of the village for filling jerry cans and other containers. The spot can accommodate about ten vehicles if everyone parks properly.
A stunning view for spending the night by the sea. We arrived around 9 p.m. and the flat area below was completely full of campers. We settled for parking on the side of the dirt road (it is wide enough for passing campers), on a slope. There are a few bars and restaurants in the area; at that time an average but expensive pizzeria was open.
Good views, we slept very well. The place is usually more crowded with motorhomes than other places. There are no facilities; please avoid leaving the area by the steps looking like a dump.
Quiet place to spend the night, sea views and around 10 motorhomes in August. Fog and quite a lot of humidity come in at night, with very loud waves, but if you like listening to the sea, it’s all good.
Very nice parking area, no police and no prohibition sign. Arriving early is worthwhile, as quite a few campers arrived towards evening.
Good place for overnighting, few spaces, and people pass through during the day because it is a trail route.
Excellent parking with a great view and the sound of the waves.
Wonderful surroundings and calm water.
Breathtaking view and safe!
Great parking right on the water! There is loads of spots that also look good along the coast here if this one is full but it wasn’t busy even at this time of year. Locals come and go but it’s no problem
Beautiful place to spend the night, with a great view of the sea. There are several spaces, but you should arrive early enough. Some campers had already found no space by early evening. Although it is right next to the main road, you only hear the waves!
