1-3 Rue des Iris, 45500, Poilly-lez-Gien
Been here?
Tourist campsite on the Loire riverside with self-choose pitches on large grass areas, some with views of Gien castle. Electricity costs 7€ and facilities include a small swimming pool (water quality issues noted), toilets and showers, though some facilities show age. Town centre is walkable in 15 minutes; recent reports note unfriendly reception. Prices €23–28 per night.

The receptionist was not friendly. As soon as I had finished stating the composition of my family, the card terminal was already presented before I had time to say how many nights we wanted to stay. Electricity €7, excessive. The pool water was very cold and there were sewage smells nearby.
We stayed here for one night, with free choice of pitch on large grassy areas, some shaded as well. If you are lucky, you can get a spot by the Loire with a view of the castle. Sanitary facilities are very clean, and the small pool was very refreshing. We would return…
Everything is good, friendly welcome, choose your own place, not all have shadow. A little expensive, but quiet and spacious
Great place. It was a 15-minute walk to the town. We could choose our own pitch. Everything was clean.
Large grassy pitches everywhere, very generously sized. Sanitary facilities compact but clean. Bistro okay. The town is an easy 15-minute walk away. In the low season: free choice of pitch, €23.50 including electricity. Wi-Fi excellent, but chargeable.
Typical large site. Good size spaces. Facilities all clean. Easy walk into town. 23 euro camper+2 no electric.
Very good welcome, friendly overall, but something is missing (I couldn't say what)... The pools are small, the sanitary facilities rather basic with faulty sensors (5 to 10 seconds), and there is a view of the village with some traffic noise. The bar/restaurant is quite good. The pitches are relatively large and shaded. If I could, I would rate it 3.5 stars.
Good campsite; with a bit of luck you have a view of the town of Gien. Good welcome, choose your own pitch. Unisex sanitary facilities, not enough for such a large campsite, reasonably clean. Toilet paper, lukewarm shower. Small pool to cool off. Good place for cycling along the Loire. At the shop 20 m away, you can order bread in the morning. Expensive, around €30 per night for two people including electricity.
Excellent location, spacious pitch next to the “beach,” and above all, a warm welcome. The playground could be improved.
For a first van-life experience, we really enjoyed this campsite!!! Plenty of space for every type of vehicle, free choice of pitch, with or without electricity, with or without a view of the Loire. The sanitary facilities are exceptionally clean, and the campsite restaurant (Italian++) is very, very good. A burger a few hundred meters farther on is also excellent!! In short, it has everything!!
Beautiful, quiet campsite! Everyone was very friendly; we spent two nights here without a reservation. The sanitary facilities are simple but generally clean, with toilet paper and soap!
We had one of the great pitches with a direct view of the Loire and the castle. Simply fantastic. From there, it is only a short walk across the bridge to the town center.
Nice green and quiet campsite, with large pitches, ideal for visiting Gien & Chateau. Excellent restaurant onsite, reasonably priced and good menu, pleasant outside seating area overlooking the Chateau. Facilities clean but needed updating. Swimming pools look disused and in poor state of repair. Ideal for stopover.
We spent one night at this campsite at the end of April. Very expensive, €34 for one night for 2 adults and 2 children, including electricity. The pitches along the Loire are beautiful and large. But the campsite is open to all walkers along the Loire. No security at all. The showers are cold in the morning and poorly designed. It is difficult to keep your clothes dry. The playground is not maintained.
Expensive! ACSI card €26 for two people, camper, and electricity. Wi-Fi €3 per day. Although it is quite busy, there are only two toilets (without seats) for the entire campsite, used by both men and women. The shower water is cold in the morning. You are not allowed to enter the toilet or shower area with shoes or slippers. They must be left in a rack outside the door. Disappointing!
Warm welcome even 10 minutes before closing. We chose our very spacious pitch for one night. The sanitary facilities were clean and well equipped. The view of the castle and its evening lights was very beautiful. We will not hesitate to return. The Italian restaurant next to the campsite is excellent, both in terms of welcome and food.
Very quiet campsite. We spent two nights here and could choose our pitch. The only small downside was that the shower water was almost cold at 7:30 a.m., certainly because the solar water heater was undersized and not very effective at that time. Wi-Fi is a little expensive. Waking up facing the Loire with a view of Gien is very pleasant.
Pretty pitches along the river. When we were there, only 1 sanitary block was open. The showers were barely lukewarm, which is why I am giving 3 stars
A lovely welcome to a lovely park in a great location on the banks for the Loire. Spacious pitches and clean facilities. Wee italian reataurant and bar at the entrance a nice bonus.
Beautifully situated and on the Eurovelo 6 Loire route which we are doing in bits over many years. I would have given this 5 stars but today one of the two sanitaires was shut down for the season leaving only 2 unisex loos indoors and some dubious outdoor ones. Despite it being October there are numerous campers here. The restaurant looks good, not tried it yet.
Beautiful location opposite the castle of Cosne-sur-Loire. Well-maintained campsite, facilities well maintained and clean! A little expensive…
We spent one night here; ideal setting with a beautiful view, perfect with a dog for lovely walks. However, the €28 price with the ANCI card is too high and not worth it. The supposedly heated pool had icy water, broken tiles and a broken ladder, and was very poorly maintained. The motorhome waste area is not very accessible and needs improvement.
The two of us stayed one night without electricity with our self-converted Fiat Ducato L3H2. It was well located, the washrooms were clean and the welcome was friendly. We paid €22.70 per night.
Beautifully located on the banks of the Loire overlooking the town of Gien. With ACSI, €22.70 for a motorhome and two people. Clean, adequate sanitary facilities and a friendly welcome. Everything was great.
I spent four nights here; very good campsite, spotless facilities and very friendly people.
Nice campsite with a beautiful view of the Loire and Gien castle. Clean facilities. The above-ground pool is not very large for swimming and was a little too cold. Friendly welcome. It can fill up quickly because it is not far from the main road, making it good for a stopover.
Very nice site right by the river. The town is worth seeing and quickly reachable on foot. About 20 metres from the main road, you can order bread and croissants and buy somewhat more expensive groceries. It was very quiet both day and night.
One night as a stopover. Great! We arrived at closing time, and the campsite was full for pitches with electricity, but the staff took excellent care of us and the manager eventually found us a suitable place. Beautiful setting and an excellent Italian restaurant with very classy specialities, run by Italians, with a lovely atmosphere. Do not hesitate to stop here.
Lovely green campsite with spacious pitches; you may choose your own spot. Clean facilities and a nice pool. The shared male and female facilities made us uncomfortable. Otherwise, we had an excellent stay. Also a good place to stay longer and go cycling. We paid €30 for a van, electricity, two adults and a dog.
