Stray Rein, HG2 8HU, Harrogate
Been here?
Daytime parking on a quiet street beside large grassy areas, though spaces can be busy with commuter cars. It is about a 10-minute walk from Harrogate town centre, with pubs, restaurants and Waitrose nearby. There are no facilities, and overnight stays are prohibited under a local byelaw.

Having stayed on the Stray Rein numerous times in the past I was surprised to read it's no longer possible due to The Stray Act. Having read that there is nothing in it to prohibit overnight occupation of vehicles .. good news .. but not for long .. the prohibition is actually in a local byelaw - Part 2(7) of the Council of the Borough of Harrogate Stray Byelaws .. a sad loss
Lovely quiet spot close to the town centre. Would highly recommend when visiting Harrogate. Was very busy when we arrived so we had to park further out, but started to empty around 5pm.
quiet street and not too far from the city centre
A nice quiet road in-between a grassy meadow. used mainly by cars parked by people going to work, have to be lucky to get a spot during day. 10 min walk into town centre, lots of pubs/restaurants close by, waitrose 5 min walk. bin close by. would recommend.
So far very quiet park up will update I nothing changes
Lovely grassed area, great for walks, with beautiful crocuses everywhere.
5mins to town or nice stroll around the Stray also known as 2 Hundred Acres. Masses of crocusses late winter.
Lots of spaces, short walk in and out of town.
No spaces when we went to park (Monday morning) however found a spot nearby on another street just before. Good spot for visiting Harrogate
Parking restrictions on one side. Large fields on both sides. Close to Harrogate centre.
Top-quality site!
This is a great place to stay, it's quiet, lovely green fields on both sides of us, 10 minutes walk to the centre of town. Lots of parking spaces. The waitrose was 5 minutes walk away for toilets during opening hours of course. We will be coming back.
Great place ; nice and quiet. However , will not last long if people turn up in a caravan , have steps out and gas bottle on road. Please be discrete
Excellent! A very quiet street with only walkers and joggers. It is well surrounded and really just 10 minutes' walk from the town centre. I am simply afraid that this place will become very popular in the future and quickly be prohibited. For now, enjoy it and respect the place so that we will continue to be welcomed! Bonus: a great view of the park!
Stayed Fri & Sat night, thought it might get busy/noisy due to weekend but it was perfect and peaceful and felt safe and friendly. 10 min walk into the centre and 5 min walk to waitrose. would definitely recommend and stay here again.
Amazing place surrounded by expansive green space and trees given it's literally 5 mins walk from the centre of Harrogate tiwn with main roads nearby that you can hardly hear.. we stopped along with 5 other vans on a Saturday night with no disturbance. Definitely a top find
great quiet road, level, good internet, streetlights, bins, safe, good field for dogs, easy access to town centre
Lovely park up quiet at night no issues
Fab place to park for visiting Harrogate. 10 minute walk into town. We stayed the night with no issues. Heard people heading home after a night out at around 3.30am but they just walked by.
Great spot for visiting Harrogate.. busy during the day.. but so quiet on a night..
Fantastic stopover, we stayed 2 nights. Arrived on 27/12/23 at 3pm and managed to find a space, although it was busy with city commuters. There were 5 other motorhomes on the first night and 3 others on the second. During wet months, I recommend parking with the habitation door on the side away from the verge because the grass becomes waterlogged. I can't comment on noise because of Storm Gerrit! We will definitely return; excellent location for the centre.
