21 Large Park, BT26 6AL
Been here?
This town-country-park car park offers a quiet overnight stop beside a lake, with walking access to the village and its Main Street. The lower of two areas is flatter, while other sections are uneven, and there are no amenities apart from waste bins. It becomes busy and noisier from around 8am with joggers, dog walkers, and local visitors. Police patrols are regularly reported.

We spent two nights here without problems. Quiet at night, but from 8 a.m. joggers and locals out for walks fill the car park, making it somewhat noisy. We saw the police pass by on both days.
Watch out for resentful locals. I was woken at 2 a.m. by a policeman’s flashlight, and he threatened to check my license plate. It was difficult to get back to sleep afterward because of the discomfort and scrutiny.
nice safe and out of the way, no issues during the week with regular police checks on Friday and Saturday nights
Very quiet large car park. A few picnic tables. Toilets are accessible on the other side of the lake, inside the playground area, about a ten-minute walk away. The village is a few minutes away. Many residents come running or walk their dogs. The place is somewhat isolated at night, but we felt safe with the police regularly patrolling.
There are two car parks; the lower one is flatter for sleeping. There are many cars until early evening, as locals walk there and walk their dogs. The lake can be circled quickly. There are bins and public toilets in the village center.
Lots of parking spaces. Very beautiful area for walking around the lake, seeing the fort and sculptures. Super-quiet night. In fact, at night the police woke us, apologizing, but saying we had left the lights on and might run out of battery. So campers are welcome!
Excellent place for one night. Until 11 p.m. there were young people with modified cars making quite a lot of noise, but afterward it became quiet. We parked at the side by the wall, allowing the camper to extend over the grass while occupying only one space.
Great spot, beside lake, easy walking into historic village, plenty of bins. Co ordinates take you to the bottom of Main Street, this park is at the top of the hill, forest park.
Great spot near a lake, 7 & forest. Only parts are flat, and other parts are uneven. Lots of space. Internet slow and no amenties. Police drive by, which might be why it felt so safe and was so calm at night.
Beautiful and quiet car park in lovely natural surroundings by the lake. However, it is quite heavily used by locals from the morning onward. The town is within walking distance. If a strong internet signal is important for work, it would be better to book a campsite with Wi-Fi.
Great parking location. Our 6-metre van fit into the spaces along the outer edge of the car park. Completely quiet after around 10 p.m. Good 4G phone signal.
Definitely not ideal for anything bigger than a T5
We spent a quiet night and felt safe.
There is no good internet signal, which I need for work, so I did not stay overnight. The surroundings are very beautiful and seem very peaceful for sleeping.
Stayed here many times and never had a single issue. No facilities except bins but always had peaceful nights and felt safe. Would be 5 star if there were closer toilets, 2 options 10 mins away but locked at night. Beautiful lake park to walk around as well with plenty of dog walkers. It draws attention if you take up multiple parks if in a bigger van, try to reverse up to the grass.
Nice flat parking on the lower level car park. Very busy all day until late at night. Groundskeepers are up early with noisy leaf blowers etc so expect an early wake up. Lovely walk around the lake with access to bins and toilets.
