Been here?
Parking in a beautiful mountain valley, providing a starting point for hiking, climbing and visits to the Oñate caves. It is very sloping and unsuitable for sleeping comfortably, with no toilet, water or mobile coverage. The cave entrance is 1km uphill from the parking area. Vehicles over 5 metres are permitted here, subject to the signposted restriction elsewhere in Araotz.

The parking area lies beautifully in the valley and is a great starting point for climbing or hiking. Unfortunately, it is far too sloped for sleeping.
We stayed parked for four hours during our hike. There was plenty of free space, close to hiking trailheads. A very good experience.
7.20-meter motorhome. Great for visiting the cave (attention! From the parking area there is still 1 km of uphill walking to the cave. You can drop people off at the entrance and then return to the parking area). Lots of ticks if you climb to Atxulo. Wear long trousers and protect your dogs.
Quite steep, with no mobile coverage. Ideal for hiking the Ojo de Aitzulo route or climbing.
Ideal parking for visiting the caves. We did not sleep there, so I cannot comment on that.
Ideal parking for visiting the nearby caves and taking one of the hiking routes indicated in the area.
Perfect place for visiting the cave and walking in the mountains. The only annoying thing is the slope, which can be solved with leveling blocks, and the traffic on the adjacent road. Otherwise, wonderful. In Oñati you can empty tanks and fill up with water at the free service area.
