Ilkley Road, BD20 5RD, Ilkley
Been here?
A moorland car park with spectacular views and access to walks, suitable for around 5 or 6 campers. It is busy with cars during the day and evening; fast cars may continue until 11pm, while other nights have included loud music and drinking until midnight. Conditions can be windy.

Great place to stop. Spectacular views and walks. Dog walkers and hikers during the day, all friendly, but lots of kids in cars at night (I stayed on a Wednesday night). They were noisy, played music, drank until midnight and left all their rubbish behind, which I picked up, as van sites get enough criticism already. Would have been five stars plus without them.Translating
Despite the previous worrying reviews, we decided to stay here on a Sunday night as it was ideally situated for our planned walks on the moor. Yes, it's a busy spot with cars coming and going all evening and walkers during the day. But on this occasion everyone was quiet and respectful, thankfully! As such we stayed another night. The on-site bin was emptied by the council while we were there.Translating
Even in late September, in rain and wind, we had a couple of after-dark revellers letting off fireworks and hardy dog walkers in the morning. It's also not a great place to stay if it's windy—you will really get buffeted. Other than that, it's fab!Translating

I think we were unlucky with being there on a Saturday night during the August Bank Holiday weekend, with people hanging around talking etc til 2am. Nevertheless, I would thoroughly recommend this spot. It's so dark and quiet (once the others go) - we had the deepest sleep and a cracking view to wake up to.
A pretty decent location. We arrived after 9 and there were about two cars with smokers but if you go back down the road a couple of hundred meters there are quite a few level areas just off the road that are suitable to park that are nice and quiet with decent views. The car park was empty before midnight and we were not disturbed.
Nice spot with gorgeous views and lots of walks. Quite busy with cars coming and going a few were blasting music till after midnight but no hassle. Just one car shouting and blasting horn before driving off in middle of night. Might try again another time as it’s a local spot for me
Beautiful spot. It’s true that it’s busy with comings and goings but mainly young people in their cars taking selfies and eating pizza. No bad vibes from anyone and after dark we only heard one car drive up to turn around and drive off. It’s a dead end road but popular to drive up for the sake of it. Fabulous views and morning walks to the stone cross and rocky outcroppings.
Great views but ruined by the amount of cars coming and going. Parked in the lay-by further up but endured aggressive shouts directly as a car past us leaving at 2. 30am. Blasting horn at our campervan too. Just didn't feel right about this place and sadly would not use again.
Lovely view but very busy with people coming and going throughout the night. As mentioned below it's better to park in the lay by on the left just before the car park. Good walks and good signal.
