Kobern-Gondorf Caravan Stellplatz

Discovered by chance on the way to Cochen. A very nice place for €5. Emptying the toilet and fresh water are available for €1. We are not wild campers, but this place feels pleasant and safe. If you are nearby, definitely drive past and you will be convinced that this is a very nice place.

This is an absolute emergency stopover. Traffic was unbearable during the day and in the morning. The nearby railway line added to it. Spend one night here and then get away as quickly as possible!

It is convenient because it is inexpensive. There is some shade. Otherwise, it is noisy because of the nearby road and trains. There is a small path to the banks of the Meuse, but it is also a meeting place for young people who listen to music and stay late in the evening. Useful only as an emergency parking place if you have found nothing else. Service facilities are available.

We spent one night here because we were looking for an inexpensive place with services on the way through the Wine Route, and we found it here. For €1, my Gardena water meter measured 135 liters. The train bothered me a little, but as I said, it was okay for one night.

We discovered the place by chance during a bike ride, but stayed nearby at a campsite. If we had known about this place beforehand, we would have stayed here overnight, as it is excellent for a stopover. We will definitely come here sometime!

Perfect for one night. Directly on the Moselle, with partial views of the water. Emptying and filling were easy. Good starting point for hiking and cycling. The road and train did not bother us; if you want to stay directly by the water in this area, the train is naturally nearby.

A nice place on the Moselle; we spent one night. It was fine for one day. A hike to Niederburg was very nice. Unfortunately, because of the road and train traffic, my wife could not sleep all night. Otherwise, the place is very nice.

The service facilities were not yet operating because we were here in March. The road and train traffic did not bother us much. We hiked to Niederburg and Oberburg and enjoyed a sunny view of the Moselle. Best wishes, Travelmonika

The payment machine and service facilities are currently switched off for the winter break and will be reactivated from April, according to a city employee. The place is truly very noisy, but the Moselle consists of a river, country road, and railway anyway… and €5 is reasonable for that; elsewhere it is rather outrageously expensive.

We stopped here in transit and spent one night. Actually, it is a beautiful place directly on the Moselle with views of the vineyards. Unfortunately, the noise from passing freight trains makes it difficult to sleep properly. Great as a daytime parking area, though.

Paid parking with services. A very pretty village 10 minutes away on foot.

Directly by the river. Yes, there is a road and railway. Filling and emptying facilities freely accessible. Lots of space.

Folks, if you can take out your hearing aids at night, it might be bearable. We were late, hence this place. We barely slept. A car, freight train, or truck passed every few minutes. Even earplugs are not enough. Never again!

The many negative reviews? Hardly understandable. Sure, the place is not paradise—the railway and road are nearby—but the overall impression is excellent. And honestly: the larger the motorhome, the louder the complaining. Go to proper campsites and pay a fair price instead of expecting luxury here when none was promised.

Well, I travel around a lot, but this was one of the noisiest places ever. For me, even €5 was too much. Well-intentioned, but not relaxing at all.

You can empty toilet here for free. The place is on a slope and I was not able to empty the gray water, however it is basically allowed.

It would be almost perfect if you had a view of the Moselle from the motorhome. So we continued on, even though there were still spaces here on a sunny Sunday during the holidays.

We only filled and emptied the tanks. In fact, €1 does not correspond to 100 liters but to about 70 liters, while 10 cents gives 8 liters. Still, it is fine; we have paid more elsewhere.

Nice stop. Easy payment. The night was calm, with some traffic and train noise, but it did not bother us. Easy access to the village and a very good nearby stop. Unfortunately, the machine was broken, so we could not get fresh water.

I cannot recommend this place to anyone. There is road and train noise, but no view of the Moselle. On top of that, there are lots of spectators in the form of walkers or young people hanging out there. Then charging €5 when there are not even trash bins is outrageous. There are much nicer free parking places in the area.

Very good for a one-night stop. The pitches are large. Bring €1 and €2 coins.

The place is okay. For 10 cents, you only get 4 liters of water now.

Everything said in the other reviews is true, but it did not bother us too much with earplugs. Warning: there is a young man with a baseball cap and a dog who threw a stone at our motorhome late at night. There is a lot of public traffic anyway. The paid water dispenser is also inaccurate: according to the sign, 10 cents gives 8–10 liters, but it actually gives only about 5 liters.

Absolute disaster. Unbelievably loud; sleeping at night is impossible. A main road is right beside it, plus railway tracks with freight trains all night. One star is still too many. There are no trash bins anywhere on the site. We would never stay here again, even if we were paid to. Not recommended.

The night was hell. Many cars and trains raced past us. Sleeping was impossible. The road and tracks are directly beside the parking area. No view of the Moselle and no restful sleep. Never again.

The parking area itself: grade 1, everything a motorhome traveler needs. The noise: grade 6. Railway and road next to it, plus the road on the opposite side of the Moselle. Anyone giving this 4–5 stars must have hearing damage.

Great starting point for touring the Moselle. The road did not bother us. Bike ride through the vineyards to Koblenz. Rewe supermarket and restaurants right outside.

A place directly on the Moselle. The road in the background did not bother us. A few benches right at the site complete the setting. Absolutely fine for €5. The ruins of Niederburg and Oberburg are easy to explore on foot, and the small, charming town has everything you need.

Despite the traffic noise, we still give it four stars considering the price, because noise nuisance is very personal. It did not bother us much. Camping behavior is allowed. In the evening, parking tickets are checked. Supermarket 200 meters away.
