Been here?
This is a small gravel parking area beside the church, with room for only a few vehicles and outstanding valley and fell views. It is close to the lake, village, pubs, cafés and many walking routes. The area is very busy with walkers and cars during the day but can be quiet overnight. Access roads are narrow, and teilintegriert motorhomes require the Cockermouth approach because the road is only 2,5m wide; there is no phone signal.

Great place. You need luck to get one of the level spaces near the church. Partially integrated motorhomes can only approach from Cockermouth. However, the road is only 2.5 metres wide, so travel early in the morning or late in the evening. The view is absolutely worth it. Great hiking opportunities and the Buttermere Infinity Pool, visited thousands of times by Instagram and TikTok addicts.Translating
We arrived to park around 3 p.m.; everything was very full and busy, so we drove on.Translating
Excellent parking spot, outstanding views. Very busy place but quiet at night, lots of day visitors. We parked in village and moved to this area when the cars went home. Fairly flat. Please do not leave rubbish, especial toilet paper, use a doggy bag and clean up after yourself if you need to wild wee. Be respectful!!!
Really liked this spot. If you get the first row (just opposite the little church), you have an amazing view over the valley and the fells. Busy over the weekend, just a few hikers mid-week. Loved it so much that I ended up staying 3 nights - no one complained. Amazing base for hikes. The Skye cafe opposite the church is very nicely done and high end. Thank you for allowing me to stay at this spot.
Stayed here over Easter weekend. Great little spot, five minutes from the lake. Only two other camper vans and me, but I think five or six cars could fit. As someone else mentioned, it is not a field but a gravel area. It was very quiet and peaceful. I am not sure whether you would be moved on during peak season, as it is a major tourist spot, so have an alternative just in case.Translating
It’s a small car park next to the church, used by hikers until late and from early. I managed to get mostly level in a 7m van, slept like a baby to the sound of the very vocal sheep in the area. Beautiful walk down to the lake and waterfall. Skye Farm cafe was beaut, dog friendly, good food and good coffee!
Fine for daytime parking, too muddy for the night.Translating
Great place for a night! amazing views, close to the lake and the tiny village with few pubs. no signal at all but still highly recommend!
Great spot, great views, spent a peaceful night there
