Unnamed Road, 04760, Berja
Been here?
A bus parking area at the top of Castala periurban park, quiet at night on weekdays and busy with hikers during the day. It is a starting point for hiking routes through the Sierra de Gádor, with fountains, containers, picnic tables and barbecues in the park. The area also has handball, football and basketball courts.

Incredible spot! At this altitude, the solar panels recharge very well! Sheltered from the wind, with picnic tables, barbecues, water, and handball, football and basketball courts—what more could you ask for? The mobile signal is mediocre, but the hikes make up for it, right?
How beautiful it is here. It is worth taking a mountain route. Silence and birdsong. I did not find any water. It is worth coming here.
Wow, we are thrilled. We stayed at the top of the parking area during the week and thoroughly explored the wonderful area. The Julius Caesar Mine and the via ferratas are recommended. It is a very large hiking area with many different possibilities. During the day, other visitors came and went, but it was very quiet in the evening and at night. The parking area is somewhat sloping.
We had a wonderful night, surrounded only by the sounds of the forest. A car passed from time to time, but that stopped around 8 p.m. There are many hiking opportunities and climbing routes around, as well as a rock face with many via ferrata sections that can be combined according to your experience level. We hiked to many of the mines.
Great parking area. At the junction down by the small parking attendant’s hut, you must turn right; otherwise, you end up in the paid parking area (€5). Unfortunately, there is animal droppings and rubbish everywhere near the parking area and beside the paths. It is busy at weekends; from around 6 p.m., most cars leave. Wild animals visited us at night, and unfortunately a stray dog came directly to the van and barked and growled for an hour.
We parked at the turn-off on the right because it is flatter. Very quiet night.
Dreamlike. We stayed alone for two nights and did the recommended hike No. 336 to the mines. The taps worked and there were rubbish containers. Many locals arrived with picnics on Saturday morning, so we moved on. Thank you for allowing us to stay here.
No services at all, but a very beautiful and peaceful place to spend the night at the time of my visit.
As a thank-you for the pleasant stay and overnight visit in this wonderful park, we collected some litter. People, don’t make a mess!
