16 Strada Energiei, 435250, Băile Borșa
Been here?
A tarmac daytime parking area at 828 meters above sea level beneath the Băile Borșa monastery, with a panoramic valley view. The climb is excellent but steep, and the road is narrow, while the area is flat and suitable for an 8-meter heavy motorhome. There are no motorhome services, but satellite and 4G reception are optimal; ask the monks for permission before settling. Bells and a wooden board sound at 10:30pm and 7am.

Such a lovely spot. Priest welcomed us with a “God Bless You” and was happy for us to stay. The road up is steep but as long as you don’t meet anyone, it’s fine. Flat spot and great view down to the valley. 10:30pm and 7am bells ring and wooden board beaten - otherwise perfectly quiet.
A superb place that would be a shame to spoil with too many motorhomes. Ask the monastery for permission. The road is dangerous; large motorhomes should not venture up there.
The place is superb, but the road is clearly dangerous: a long climb of over 10%, very narrow and slippery in winter. The parking area is used by people attending Mass, so pay attention to Mass times, which cause traffic jams on this road.
