Van-der-Smissen-Straße, 22767, Hamburg
Been here?
This parking area beside Hamburg’s harbor and fish market is a central place for spending the day and possibly the night. Parking is free from 20:00 to 10:00, while daytime parking costs 10€ for 10 hours; payment is by card or the EasyPark app. The fish market, ferry and bus connections are nearby. Nights can be quiet, but spaces often fill in the afternoon and evenings, especially at weekends, with occasional traffic and noise.

Perfect parking area for an afternoon and night in Hamburg. Easy payment at the meter. The bus is at the beginning and end of the street. The ferry to the city is at the beginning of the street. We stayed here for an afternoon and night. Enjoyed a lovely walk, saw the city and watched the sunset.
We spent a very good night here. It was very quiet, just a few minutes' walk from the fish market. Contrary to other statements, there are no cobblestones here. At night it is free; during the day you pay a maximum of €10. Card payment only! Or via the EasyPark app, although there is an additional €1.50 service fee.
Brr, the area is really scary. In my opinion, it is only suitable for an emergency overnight stay. Otherwise, it is noisy and unfortunately rather dirty. Overall, there are hardly any good places in Hamburg, so we prefer to drive another half hour out into the countryside.
Perfect spot. When I arrived at 9:30 p.m., all the parking spaces were occupied. But just 15 minutes later I had my choice of spaces because the restaurants close at 10 p.m. and many guests were heading home. The many no-stopping signs prohibit stopping on the street, but not in the parking bays. And it is an industrial area, so a truck may be unloaded at 3:30 a.m.
Nice, quieter location and really excellent for the price (€10 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.). We parked here for two days and spent one night. We were almost completely level. In the afternoon/evening on weekends, the spaces often fill up, making it difficult to park and stay overnight.
We moved to this parking area because of the fish market on Saturday night into Sunday. Free between 8 p.m. and 10 a.m., and €10 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. In the morning we strolled through the fish market, had breakfast either at Schanzenbäcker or Café Schmidt, and lunch at Fisch & So.
3 stars at night (tolerable with earplugs, plus the parking area is sloped); we would not do it again. 5 stars during the day. Perfect starting point for Hamburg. €10 daily rate for 10 hours (coins, app or card).
Harbor/industrial area, far from pleasant or charming; we did not spend the night there.
Very central, cheap or free (8 p.m.–10 a.m.).
We stayed here from Saturday to Sunday—how perfect is this place? Spending a free night right in the middle of Hamburg! And it was not noisy at the weekend. On Sunday morning, after getting up, we went to the fish market, then left at 10 a.m. (when payment starts). We only arrived around 10 p.m. on Saturday evening, and there were still 3–5 spaces available, even during the summer holidays.
Good place to spend the night if the two front spaces are full (which is already the case at midday). We paid €12 from noon to 10 p.m., then it is free until 10 a.m. the next morning. The bus stop is right on the street, or you can take the boat to Landungsbrücken. Better not park level with the drinks wholesaler, as there is activity there at night too.
Excellent place for visiting the city by bicycle. We stayed on Saturday evening; a nearby nightclub caused some disturbance until 2 a.m. Traffic, however, is very limited at night.
Nice, relatively quiet pitches. Paid from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.: €10/day. Otherwise €3/hour. Unfortunately, there is no view of the Elbe, but the shore and shops are only a few meters away. We stayed here for two nights in early January 2025 and were the only motorhome.
