178 Panissas, 66480, Le Perthus
Been here?
Small gravel parking area for 3 or 4 vehicles in the countryside near Fort Bellegarde, with a quiet setting and views over the valley. The fort is about 1 km away and can be reached on foot, with several walks nearby. Access is steep and narrow in places, and one route caused difficulty when turning around. This is also a cemetery parking area, and there are no services.

Magnificent place for our first night of the trip. Very quiet, with a sunset over the valley and even a short walk to visit Fort Bellegarde the next day, 1 km away. We were right at its foot. We were alone apart from a few cyclists who passed in the morning. The only minor drawback is that it is quite windy, although perhaps not every day.
Convenient for stopping near the border. Lovely walk and views. But it remains a cemetery parking area, so you should not be bothered by that if you sleep here.
Excellent peaceful spot. Gravel parking area. In the middle of nature with many walks.
Access through Le Perthus. For some reason my GPS wanted to take me through a steep, uneven terrain. Nearly got stucked when turning around...
Flat, quiet location. A family van near us. Little traffic, plenty to see around!
Very quiet night. Many walks to take nearby.
Stayed here for one night Quite steep road and internet connection was moderate. Leave it clean!
Very beautiful place. As mentioned in a previous review, we went above the visitors' parking area, to a platform with a superb view at the foot of the fort, but it was outside opening season, so there were few people. We arrived early; two vans came later.
Easy access for vans, narrow in places. Quiet spot and peaceful night among historic ruins and cork oaks. Recommended.
Next to the road, but perfect for stopping and eating before continuing the journey.
Very good spot. Quiet, at the starting point of magnificent hikes.
Very good spot. Beautiful hikes all around. Super-quiet night. Thanks for the information!
We did not turn right. We continued straight and were just below the fort. There is a large platform that is not perfectly level, but it works very well, especially since the view is magnificent. We watched a beautiful sunset straight ahead. Across from us was a fantastic view of the border, Le Perthus, and the Pyrenees! Room for several vehicles.
