Been here?
A quiet, isolated daytime car park beside the river, near a hamlet and 1,5 km from Bessans. Overnight stays are now prohibited throughout the municipality. Toilets are closed in summer, there are no summer services, and the nearest Flot Bleu terminal is in the village, 3 km away.

WARNING! Since July 2024, wild camping is completely prohibited in the municipality of Bessans. The police are friendly but consistent. All the former beautiful free-camping spots are NO LONGER POSSIBLE!
Since the opening of the Campincarpark area right next door, it is no longer possible to spend the night in this car park.
Paved parking area, quiet, near the river and hamlet, and 1.5 km from Bessans (shops, etc.). In summer 2024, the toilets are not open, and the only option for a motorhome to empty its gray and black water and fill up with water is the campsite at the southwestern entrance to Bessans, just before the bridge. Parking area slightly set back from the road. A few spaces by the river were excellent! Plenty of spaces to park in complete peace. Hiking trailhead nearby.
Fed up with the Alps. I set out to travel the Route des Grandes Alpes in June, and what a hassle when avoiding campsites! Service stations that work are rare, including the outdated Flot Bleu stations, which are practically unusable; dedicated motorhome areas are rare too—always roadside car parks where you have to try to level the vehicle. I have decided to leave the Alps.
Originally, this was a car park for skiers in winter and hikers in summer. Now, in high season, the car park is overrun with motorhomes, some of which stay for several weeks. This causes considerable annoyance among motorists, who can no longer park. You can understand them… this could end badly.
