Quiet gravel/clay parking area beside the Wohlensee (Aar river), 5 minutes from the Bern-Bethlehem A1 exit; vehicles under 7m only, parking limited to 12 hours. Free, with public toilets, bins and barbecue spots. Popular with day visitors and swimmers, so it fills up daytime and weekends, but nights are generally quiet after the nearby bar closes. A small bar/kiosk and paddle/canoe rental sit right by the river. Many travellers sleep here undisturbed, though camping is officially prohibited and police have issued at least one fine.

Very good spot next to a river, where swimming is possible, in the countryside. The area is bucolic, and there is also a small riverside café. Some traffic, but it is quiet; you can eat or have a beer there. A farm selling produce directly is 700 meters from the parking area.
Police arrived at night, gave us a ticket, and asked us to leave. Camping is prohibited there.
Camping is tolerated. Super-friendly bar!
Unfortunately, there is a new sign showing that it is prohibited.

Beautiful place! We spent one night there. As has been mentioned several times, there are many day visitors. Camping is popular there, so you certainly will not be alone, but it is still very peaceful and pleasant. The toilets are clean.
Beautiful surroundings… There are many other campers and a small restaurant in front of the lake. The toilets are not the nicest, but they are okay. Please take your rubbish with you!
