Camping Le Pain de Sucre

Large, shady pitches, and the children loved scrambling around in the forest behind. Although the facilities are recent, they are cleaned only once a day. The campsite was full, so cleanliness was not up to standard. Paper was also often missing, and it is a shame there is no soap. The dishwashing sinks are poorly arranged. However, we really enjoyed the bird-of-prey demonstration with Maxime and the morning tracking marmots and birds of prey with him.✦Translating

Very nice site. The Wi-Fi password is available at the bar for 24 hours at a time. Note: the reception office is open from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. and from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.; otherwise, you will find the barrier locked. Once inside, you can leave or enter the site outside those hours.✦Translating

Magnificent campsite with a very warm welcome. Bar and pizza on site. Washing machine and dryer. Recent and particularly clean facilities. Perfect for cycling over the mountain passes or visiting Lac d’Ossoue, and only 3 km from the entrance to Gavarnie village.✦Translating

Good value, clean campsite with beautiful views of the mountains and right next to the river. Facilities are very new, clean and well organised. There's a bar on site which serves delicious pizzas. The only thing that could be improved was I couldn't find a water refill point that was separate from the waste point, but maybe I should have asked. Highly recommended

Ideal! Right by the river, 6 min drive to the hiking spots & an amazing, clean, modern shower block with hot hot showers. €17.4 for a van & 2 people (no electricity) and that included a free parking pass to use at gavarnie

Beautiful place, small but very clean facilities (minor detail: no hand soap). Excellent welcome and explanations. You can get a ticket so you do not have to pay for parking in Gavarnie. Adequate pitch and beautiful view; bring an extension cord for electricity, as you may be far from the hookup. Excellent restaurant with great value for money! We recommend it!✦Translating

We were passing through and planned to stay only one night. In fact, we committed to at least three nights because it is so quiet. The campsite and facilities are clean, as is the bar-restaurant, where everything is spotless. And the “Pain de Sucre” pizza is incredible. We ate very well and received a very warm welcome. Our favorite place! A human-scale campsite, thoughtfully designed to ensure campers have a very comfortable stay. And what a setting: a green haven nestled at the foot of the mountain, with the Gave flowing directly below as a natural soundtrack. Very quiet spot, but not recommended if you are traveling alone. The approach was no problem for an L2H2, although it was partly very narrow but manageable. There are no fish in the pond. Little mobile reception. Picnic benches, a playground, and free fresh water are available. Very, very dark at night. A few hikers pass by in the morning. Nobody complained. We stayed one night.✦Translating

Lovely and relaxing spot surrounded by nature. The area is quiet and easy to reach. There’s a fountain, a few tables, and space to grill. Even though it’s well equipped and close to the road, it still feels secluded enough to avoid crowds. I slept in a camperized car on a Thursday night, and it was very peaceful. In the morning, a few people arrived to start hiking from there. There are many trails to explore, all of them very beautiful. There’s also plenty of space for parking vans and cars without being too close to each other—around four vehicles maximum. Definitely an amazing place.✦Translating

This is a gorgeous spot. We drove up here in our Sprinter, which is about 7.5 meters long, so the drive up was a bit tricky and we had to reverse to get around corners, but we made it up. So don’t take the previous comments about narrow roads lightly. We were here during a thunderstorm, which was amazing. Lots of places for barbecues and many lovely hikes nearby. Worth the difficult drive up.✦Translating
